⚠️ Potential Triggers: Mention of demonic rituals. <3 ⚠️

It was eight in the morning, and Rantaro wasn't about to get up. He stayed in his bed. The school term wasn't going to begin for two whole weeks - he could do whatever he wanted. At least, he thought he could. He began to hear upbeat knocking. "Hey, Rantaro," a cheery voice echoed from beyond his door, "Get up already! Angie wants everyone to be at breakfast today!" it continued. Rantaro smiled, rolling his eyes as he tumbled off of his bed. After carelessly throwing on a shirt and pants, he made it to the corridor. Kaede stared at him, her eyebrow raised.

"What? It's a shirt!" Rantaro complained.

"If you're going to wear a shirt that says 'God is dead' in front of Angie Yonaga, I will un-ironically start to pray for your life, Rantaro," Kaede sighed, the smallest grin dancing upon her face.

"Would Angie honestly try to kill me?" "I think you underestimate how much she loves Atua." "Well, pay your respects at my funeral, Kaede!" Rantaro laughed.

They made their way downstairs and, as suspected, many heads turned towards Rantaro's shirt. As they walked into the common-rooms, Angie's smile morphed into a crooked frown. "Atua is not pleased with your choice of clothing, Amami~Kun!" she hissed, somehow keeping her composure. "Well, tell Atua that I would rather be sleeping than attending this demonic ritual, Angie." he retorted. Angie looked disgusted but addressed the people sitting in front of her.

"Alright, everybody, it is Atua's wish that we all participate in a ceremony to honour his grace and humility! Nyahaha!" Angie beamed to the group of tired, frowning faces before her.

"Angie, I know you love Atua, but some of us are very tired," Himiko spoke wearily. She hadn't gotten any sleep, much like the other students surrounding her. Tenko gave her a worried look before placing her hand around Himiko's shoulder. "Nyeh... Tenko!" Himiko said, acting as if she was upset despite relaxing into it. Others laughed, but Angie looked agitated.

"Yonaga~Chan, what's up?" asked Rantaro, carefully choosing his words around the artist.

"It is nothing to worry about, Amami~Kun! Please, ignore me!" Angie smiled, resulting in an over-the-top eye roll from Tenko. "It has become apparent that you all have no idea how to save yourselves from eternal suffering," she cheerfully shouted. "So, I shall dismiss myself from this group of heathens! Nyahaha!" "Yonaga..." Kaede tried to call out, but Angie was walking up the stairs.

"Is anyone willing to talk to her?" Kaito asked. "I would, but I'm not exactly sure she likes me that much. And anyway, I would never take advice from a degenerate male such as yourself!" Tenko practically shouted across the room.

"I'm going to bed," Himiko said as her face drooped. "Do you need anything, Himiko? I can get you a drink, or some movies, or some popcorn or-" "Tenko, I'm fine, nyeh..." she continued, drearily plodding upstairs.

Rantaro looked at his phone. As much as it was fun to tease everyone and make jokes with them, he knew he had to do something with the day. He sat down to breakfast with Kaede and they talked, as-per-usual. They talked about the events of the morning and potential ways to upset Angie. "Hey, Rantaro?" "Yeah, Kaede?" "Do you think she'd actually..." Kaede gestured a knife motion, causing Rantaro to laugh. "No, she'd probably try praying me to death, if that!" he replied, smiling widely at the small girl in front of him.

Kaede punched his arm jokingly before they went back to discussing things normally. Eventually, Kaede had to practice the piano but was stopped by Rantaro.

"Kaede! Wait up, I wanna hear!" he called out. Kaede laughed to herself before muttering a small 'sure'.

They made their way down to Kaede's piano room in the dorm building's basement. Since no one was using it, Kaede converted it. Near the middle sat a beautiful grand piano. Rantaro, who had never been to the room before, almost gasped in aw as he watched Kaede open the lid.

An excited Rantaro began to look through the sheets of music rapidly, trying to find a piece that he recognised. "Ah! Some of those are my original compositions, so..." Kaede turned away, embarrassed.

"What? That's so cool! Could you play one for me?" Rantaro smiled at the shy Kaede, who nodded.

As Kaede began to play, her tense expression shifted into a calm smile. Her fingers danced elegantly atop the keys as if she was performing a ballet. Every movement was so fluid - it was like watching the water ripple; like watching the rainfall.

After Kaede finished, she let out a small, content sigh as Rantaro clapped loudly, cheering her on. Her shy expression returned, but she seemed happy.

The rest of the day was filled with various conversations and lots of Angie's spiritualistic tantrums. Eventually, Rantaro wandered off back to his dorm, recounting the events of the day.

Today was good.

Today was perfect.

(Hey! Author here, I felt like I had to add in a softer chapter after what had happened! So, please accept some cute Kaede and Rantaro friendship and (somehow) no angst! Bye-bye! <3)
