Chapter 2: Hurry Up

Beep! Beep! Beep!

I turned off my alarm and looked around the room. The sun was shining in through the windows as the warm light from the sun rising filled the room. Cass was sound asleep across from me, Teary was fast asleep in the corner to my left, and Edward was... not sleeping. At least not in his bed. I sighed and go up, heading for the bathroom.

I couldn't help but notice Edward was sitting out on the balcony on the third floor, staring at the rising sun.  After I showered, I went outside and sat down next to him. We just stared at the sun for what felt like ages, just staring at the rising sun on the horizon. I tend to watch the rising sun alone on most mornings when I have time. It just feels a little different when there's someone else next to you.

I decided to break the silence. "How did you and Teary meet, If you don't mind me asking. You guys didn't seem like you met each other just today."

He sighed before answering. "It's a long story. My parents put me into an orphanage when I was a baby. I lived there until I was 16. And that was when they kicked me out for being too old."

"I'm so sorry" I said quietly.

"It's ok. I met Teary at the small school I went to. His family gave me a bed to sleep in and some food to put in me. Before kicking me out, the orphanage told me they were sending me here. When Teary found out, he begged his parents to let him come here and well, here we are. How did you get here?"

"Well, I've only been to 1 other school. My parents home schooled me, then they got me a tutor. But she got another job offering just around the time my parents decided it was time for me to go to school. They sent me to this little preparatory school, BHS. My father fell sick just before I left, and I knew I couldn't stay in the place I found out my father had died. So after grade 8, I came here."

"I'm really sorry about your father."

"It's ok"

We sat in silence for a few more minutes. Edward soon got up and left saying he should make breakfast. I was left alone staring at the sun. My thoughts drifted to school. Today Cass, Teary and Edward were having their first day of school. Today will be the first real day I'll have with other people, rather then on my own. I had no idea how it was going to go. Of course I did all my homework, so I didn't really have that to worry about. The last time I had friends was my tutor. Yes, I was friends with her. Hey it gets lonely in a castle when you're an only child. Anyways, I had a friend in BHS, but she was shot on a trip to visit her parents over Christmas break. That left me alone again. I've never really thought about ending it all. I guess the though of leaving my mother even more along then she already is, is sickening to me. She's such a good person, mom, queen and wife that I don't want to hurt her.

"Ava? There you are!" said a sleepy voice.

I opened my eyes to see that the sun had changed positions in the sky. The shy had turned from yellows, oranges, and reds to a nice light blue with some clouds. I must have fallen asleep. I didn't really get a good sleep after my nightmare.

"Yeah, I've just been watching the sun"

I looked at my watch and jumped up in surprise.

"Oh my gosh, it's 7:30! We have to hurry!" I rushed back into the house.

"Wait, doesn't school start a 8?"

"Yeah, but it's a 15 minute walk and we still have to get ready."

I hurried inside and headed down for that breakfast Edward said he was going to make.

5 minutes later, I was ready to go. With my backpack on my back and all my school supplies inside it, I stood by the door waiting for the others.

"Come on, were going to be late!" I called up the stairs. Edward came down with his black backpack and stood on the other side of the door.

A moment later, Teary came down with his backpack.

"Where's Cass?"

"I don't know, still upstairs I guess. Cass hurry up!" I yelled.

Cass finally stumbled down the stairs. Mornings were clearly not her thing.

"I'm here, I'm here."

"Drink your coffee?" Teary asked, jokingly.

"Yes, I actually did thank you. I'm just waiting for the caffeine to kick in..."

I lead the way out and down the street and into the school.

"Well here we are, the place most kids hates but I actually like, school."

The school is separated into 3 parts. The middle of the school has a big tree with some bench and tables in it's green area. The left wings has some lockers and classrooms including historic science, English, art and science. The right wing has again some lockers and some classroom. The back part has bathrooms, the principals office and the counselor's office. Behind the school, there's a big football field and a patch of grass where prom is held. The school is made up of your typical bricks and spruce wood, it's really not very special.

"First class, English."

Hi!

I hope you enjoyed these chapters. My plan is to post a new chapter every Friday but with school and after school stuff, that might not always happen.

My plan for this book is for it to have some romance, some mystery, and some adventure.

I don't really know what to write here so I'll just talk a little about me.

My parents don't want me saying my real name online, so I can't say that but you can call me Mel (cause it's short for melove113). I'm 14 years old, I live in Canada the home of beaver tails, igloos and lumberjacks.

I have 1 friend on Wattpad (that sounds sad but I have more then 1 friend, I promise). Her name is Lindsay and I'm following her so go follow her too. And...oh yeah, how could I forgot?

I'm almost legally blind in my left eye. Yup. And we had no idea until 5th grade. So I had to wear an eye patch. It sucks. And my glasses have a really strong prescription. So yeah. That's a little bit about me. Have a good day! :D
