Chapter 4: New or...Familiar Faces

Tik. Toc. Tik. Toc.

The sound of the ticking clock was the only sound in the room and was ringing in my ears, and probably everyone else's in the room. Silence filled the room or rather, left the room empty. You may be wondering how I got myself here. Well, I wasn't really the one who put myself here.

Teary and I have Ms. Daniva's English class. Ms. Daniva is a very strict teacher, being in her class is something you do not want to be in. She always stands out in the hallway just outside the classroom door, watching and waiting for all the students to be in class. Most people just talk before she walks in. Apparently something happened before class, so everyone was talking about it. Personally, I had no one what was, so I asked Teary. 

He said he had no idea, and we continued to talk until Ms. Daniva came into he room...

Ok so maybe we whispered a little bit, but the rest of the class was full on talking, and a whisper wasn't that bad. Until she screamed at the class to shut up, and then gave us all a class detention at the end of class.

So here we are. Sitting in silence waiting for the timer that Ms. Daniva set on her phone.

do do do...

la la la...

Ding!

"Class dismissed"she said, not even looked up from the sheet she was marking. 

Everyone stood up and quickly collected their things, continuing their conversations with their friends. "That was interesting" Teary said.

"You've never had a class detention before?"

"Nope."

We have them all the time, I'm just not usually involved. 

We left the room and headed for our lockers. It was now lunch, so we could take a break from classes. As we walked down the hallway, one of the popular girls smiled and waved a little at Teary.

Me and Reese, one of the 3 most popular girls in school, have a history. In 10th grade, one of our teachers decided that we were going to have assigned seats. I sat in one of the back rows, something I didn't really want. One of the popular guys, Kevin was his name I think, sat in front of me. I was forced to look at his big head a lot. Everyone knew that Reese wanted Kevin, and I think she thought that I liked him. I didn't.

I don't think shes out for me. I think that she thinks that I'm always in her way. I'm not trying to be, I just always seem to in her eyes. She can take the boys, I don't care.

Anyways, Reese smiled and waved at Teary. He smiled a little back at her. When Teary looked back in front, Reese glared at me with her famous death glare. That usually meant that she was into Teary. I turned to look forward and hugged my binder close to my chest.

We made it to our lockers and I grabbed the brown paper bag that had my lunch that I had packed earlier. We met up with Cass and Edward who had P.E. before lunch. They complained about their class, and we did ours.

Teary stood up, saying he had to go to the bathroom. 

We continued the conversation until Edward spotted something.

"Hey look, I think that girl's new." He nodded towards a table with a girl that was drawing alone. I couldn't see what she was drawing, but she seemed very engrossed in her art. 

We don't normally have new kids but this year we seem to have a lot more than usual.

Teary came back and saw us looking and discussing her.

"Her hair looks really smooth" Cass said.

"What you guys talking about?"

"New kid, 7 o'clock." Cass nodded her hair in the new kid's direction.

Teary suggested we introduce ourselves to her.

"Ooo lets place bets on her name" I suggest. "No money, just for fun"

"Samantha" Cass said confidently.

"Hm... Anne" Edward said

"I'm gonna go with Britney"

"I think she's a Mary" I said, standing up. "Lets see who's right!"

We walked over to her and Teary was the first to speak up.

"Hi I'm T- Kenly?"

"Teary, that's not your name." Cass said.

"Omg, is that really you Teary?"

"I haven't seen you in years!"

They jumped straight into a hug. The rest of exchanged confused looks.

"Kenly, these are my friends Edward, Cass, and Ava." 

We all waved at her.

"So how do you guys know each other?" Cass said, running hand through her hair.

"We were friends in Kindergarden and pre-school."

"This guy was totally into me" Kenly punched him playfully.

"I was so not!"

"Come on, everyone knew it." Teary just smiled.

"So what are you doing here?" Teary asked. He shoved his hands in his pockets.

"Um..." She looked around nervously. "Ok you guys really can't tell anyone."

Kenly isn't in the list of characters because I wasn't planning on adding her! I came up with this whole idea to add a new girl when I was trying to fall asleep. I feel like that's the time I come up with the most ideas. That or the shower...

I'm writing this right after I finished chapter 3, so I hope you like both of them. This past week, I've been ahead of my online school work, and it feels awesome! I decided, why not try to get ahead of writing as well? So that's what I'm doing!

 Anyways, I'm gonna take a break from writing. It's is Saturday, so might as well enjoy it.
