He picked up a solitaire diamond and held it out to me. “Try this.”

I slipped it on my ring finger and smiled. “It’s beautiful.”

“She’ll like it?” He asked.

I shook my head. “No. She’ll love it.”

He grinned and asked the shop keeper to pack it while I looked at his happiness and smiled. The way his eyes sparkled made my insides twist as I realized this was probably few of the last moments I’d spent with him as he started a new life without me. Maybe this was the reality check I finally needed to move on.
