"Let's just get out of..." words die in my throat as I get a close look at the place we fell into. It was a short hallway, lights lined the wall and machines hummed. What is this place? Our footsteps echo along the hallways as we walk. At the end of the hallway stood a coffin.
"The sleeping soldier" Sypha whispers as we approach
I raise an eyebrow at her "Seriously?"
Click! Oh hell no! I glare at Belmont who raises his hands in innocence "I didn't do it." Luckily the floor stays intact. There is a sound of air escaping and the cover of the coffin slides off. That's not creepy at all. A man emerges out of the coffin. He is shirtless, at least he's wearing pants. He has a long scar running across his chest. I would have liked to know how he survived that. The stranger has very long flowing blonde hair, and I am just starting to notice how pale he is. But the strangest part about him is his smell, it's different from any human I've ever met but I can't place it. He just floats in the air with his head on his chest, he looks like he's asleep. My hand finds my dagger, I don't care what Sypha beliefs about any legend there is something about this man that is putting me on edge. Beside me I hear Belmont hiss his hand snatching his whip. Good to know I am not the only one.
"Why are you here?" The floating man speaks. His voice is deep yet smooth.
"The stories are true" Sypha whispers in awe "You are the sleeping soldier. You will save us from Dracula"
"What about you two?" I guess he means Belmont and I
"I fell down a hole" Belmont states blandly
"I wanted to stop falling," I say, my hand tightening on my blade. Something about this guy is definitely off.
Sypha pushes forward "Dracula and his horde are roaming the land. He is determined to wipe out humanity."
"Is that what you believe?" His head is still hanging. Something about this man tugs my memory.
"There is no belief involved, Dracula's horde roams the land that's fact." Belmont retorts to his question. "But you are asking if I believe in this soldier because no I don't"
"Belmont!" Sypha gasps like she is surprised he had the balls to say it.
"I know what you are" Belmont continues keeping his eyes trained on the man
"And what am I?" he hisses. Things aren't looking good. I drop to a fighting stance as Belmont draws his whip.
"You're a vampire." Belmonts statement makes my jaw hit the floor. I knew it. Something about this guy smelled off. The vampire seemed pleased with his answer and raised his head fixing us with a smirker. His eyes are strangely golden. I have heard that vampires are beautiful but this is a different story.
"She called you Belmont" The vampire floated closer keeping his gaze focused on Belmont "House of Belmont?"
"Trevor Belmont, Last son of the house of Belmont" he hisses back "What are you implying?"
"The Belmonts killed creatures of the night for centuries. They killed vampires." he raises his arm and I brace for an attack. Trevor advances on him. Shit this is really going south, first the mob and then demons now a freakin vampire.
"The Belmonts killed creatures of the night and then the good people of the world decided they didn't need us. Now Dracula is carrying out an execution order on the human race." Belmont's shoulders sag. I know how hard it is for him to talk about his family.
"Why do you care Belmont?" The questions surprised me. Why am I getting the feeling that there is more to this vampire than meets the eye. There is something in the questions he is asking almost like he is interviewing him.
