Imagine - Newt (TST/TDC) #2

Newt's POV

The sun beat down upon the parched land and the rock I was hiding behind, while waiting for the train, was searing. The rescue mission was all a bit of a blur as all I could think about, while watching the guards and seeing the branded equipment, was Y/N. The person who stole my heart but ruined our future. 

For the first few months after WCKD's attack, I barely slept but I cried a lot, silently though. I cried for the people who lost their lives, but really, I cried because I lost Y/N.

A/N: Lol, I've done so many time skips 😅

The fact that Minho wasn't on that train carriage was still sinking in, I heard Minho yell from within that carriage, what went wrong?  I was shaken back into reality when I heard someone shuffling down the corridor, between hammocks, to where Frypan and I were. Tommy. 

"Where'd you think you're going then?" I asked, turning on the desk light, 

"Newt..." Thomas began thinking of excuses but I interrupted,

"Now don't be a twat about it, I'm already in" I say, taking his bag from him,

"No" he starts as I walk away, "No, no! Not this time. Look, even if we find Minho, there's no guarantee we back it back from this" he was determined to shake me off,

"Well you'll need all the help you can get then" I said opening Frypan's door, 

"Well we started this together, may as well end it that way" My body was at the camp but my mind and my thoughts were with Y/N, I just wanted to hold her and ask her why she did it.

I was snapped back to reality when Tommy began talking again, "Okay, let's go get him back,"

---Time skip---

The cranks were slowly coming closer and I knew we weren't going to make it. I reflected on all that had happened in my life, including meeting and loving Y/N. 

Suddenly, a car came thundering through the sea of Cranks, stopping only to let us on. It was Brenda and Jorge. They saved us... again.

As Brenda, Thomas and Frypan were sassing each other, I kept my eyes focused out the window, just enjoying the view and thinking about Y/N... again. (A/N: Surprise, surprise...)

Jorge suddenly added to the conversation just as a welcoming sight came into view, "That check point back there, was the city's last defence. If that was over run, chances are the city is too" he said matter of factly,

"Yeah, unless they figure out some other way to keep the Cranks out" I said and everyone looked out, as soon as Jorge looked out, he stopped the car. 

We all got out to 'admire' the view, "Funny" I began, "We spent 3 years trapped behind walls tryna break out, and now we wanna break back in", 

"Yeah, it's hilarious" Frypan chimed in, standing in the back of the ute, clearly not getting my 'joke'.

"So how do we get in?" Thomas asked Jorge, 

"Don't look at me, hermano. Those walls are new. I guess that's WCKD's answer for everything."

"Well we ain't gonna figure it out from up here" Brenda said, getting impatient, "Let's go!"

Just as everyone was getting into the car, I noticed Tommy stepping towards the city, "You really think they're in there?" I was talking about Minho and Y/N but just thinking about them made me sad, upset, angry... a whole catalog of emotions coursed through my body at that one moment.

"Guess we'll find out," Tommy said, plainly,

"You know she's gonna be there too?" I said, looking at him and reminding him that Teresa works for WCKD again. 

---Time skip---

Now everyone knows I'm slowly turning into a Crank, it was only the beginning when I snapped at Tommy and then had to tell him about the virus which has now spread and will only continue too. 

Tommy is in the city after we decided to 'kidnap' Teresa to give us information on Minho's whereabouts, Gally went with him and they are going to bring her to an abandoned church that was vacant when we came across it. 

As we wait for the boys to return, my palms begin to sweat and I get nervous thinking about all the explanations for Y/N's decision and the thousands of questions I want to ask her and Teresa. But mainly Y/N.

Suddenly, I hear a door open and Gally and Tommy stumble in, holding Teresa between them, they put her in a chair and take the bag off her head. 

As I walk over to where she is, I feel the rage building up inside me. "Why did you do it, Teresa?" I ask her, folding my arms in front of my chest, "And where's Y/N? Why did she do it?!" I shouted the last few words, but it felt good to let some of it go.

"You don't know?" Teresa stared at me with an inquisitive look, confused about something I had no knowledge about, "Y/N didn't tell you?!" she began muttering to herself but i grabbed her by her shoulders, 

"What don't I know, Teresa?" I said harshly, maybe with too much vigour but I pushed away the thought and focused on getting the information out of her,

"Y/N... when WCKD came to the Right Arm's camp-" she began

"Because you told them where we were" Brenda spoke for the first time since Teresa's arrival, but she spoke with such hatred it was hard to fathom; she didn't even know her that well

"Yes I did contact them, Y/N came too because... because she was pregnant!" she forgot her last sentence and cut to the chase, "Newt, she's having your child"

I took a step back then walked around a nearby column, still shocked by the announcement. I began to think... and pace which I did when I was deep in thought.

"Newt, you alright, mate?" Tommy put his hand on my shoulder and stopped my frantic pacing, but I didn't answer and instead went to ask Teresa something else, 

"Teresa, when is the baby due?" I asked firmly,

"Soon, very soon. You last saw her 6 months ago when she was roughly 2 months pregnant, probably more, so the baby is due in the next few weeks if it doesn't come early, that is" Teresa said looking up from removing Frypan's tracker,
