The Maze Runner: Nicoles story

Chapter 18: Hope

I wake up with the light of the sun shining in my eyes I feel newts hand on my waist, I smile he's with me this was all I ever wanted.

"Morning beautiful" I hear newt say behind me in a slight whisper, I turn my face so he can't see me blush

"Morning" is all I can say in response, newt stands up and stretches his arms

"I got to go help Alby with working out what we're gonna do about the grivers" newt says to me

"Okay"

Newt leans down and kisses me on the lips "I'll see you soon" then he leaves through the door, I look around and I realise we were the only two people in the room, now it's just me.

I get up and stretch, I look around and see scratches on the walls they must have been from the grivers.

I walk out of the room and see there is blood stains and scratches on the stairs, damm they got pretty close.

I walk down the stairs and out the main door of the homestead, the light of the sun almost blinds me.

Once my eyes adjust I see all the boys looking at what's left of the glade that they once called home.

I end up walking around to have a look myself and all I see is the same scratches it's insane.

I see Alby near one of the buildings, I walk over he's talking to another boy so I wait till he's done.

"What do you want Nicole?" Alby asks once the boy has gone

"I was just wondering, if there is anything I could do to help"

"Not right now we have a meeting in a couple of minutes so maybe after that"

"Yep I will able to help whenever you need"

"Good we'll need it"

Alby then walks off, I look around I can't believe that this has happened.

30 minutes later

I walk towards the hall were we had the meeting about me everyone is there usually with scratch marks, I see Alby, Newt, Minho and a few other guys sitting at the table at the front of the hall. Newt looks over to me and winks, even in the darkest times he can make me smile.

"So we are here today to talk about what happened last night" says Alby addressing the whole room

"What about it, that were all gonna die and Gally one of our leaders was the first one?" Asks one of the gladers

"What are we gonna do just sit here and wait for the grivers to kill us all?" Says another

And then just like when I was the centre of attention everyone was in an argument, I just sat there looking at Newt while he was looking back at me.

Then to my surprise Thomas stands up "Hey!!" Everybody shuts up and looks at thomas

"I know what has to happen"

"What?" Asks frypan

"I have to get stung"

Then everyone goes silent.
