Alex and I were going to work with Lupe today! I've always wanted to see what she does at work. But first let me tell you why we are going to work omg the first place.

[ Flashback]
"Check us out!" Alex said as we were walking out. We were both wearing new shoes. "Sweet kicks, papito. Ohh you to Aaliyah." Abuelita said coming over to us as we put our legs up on the chair. "Abuelita, take a picture for our insta. Were gonna stare that way so it doesn't look like we know you're doing it." he said as he handed his phone to her.

We looked the other way as she took the photos. As I looked over at papito, I saw that he took his shoe off and held it to his ear. I smacked him and he put his shoe back on.

Lupe came out the kitchen and said, "What's going on south of your ankles, buddy? Aren't those the expensive sneakers I said you couldn't have?" Oops he got caught "They were a gift from an admirer." he said as Lupe looked at Abuelita.

Truth is I bought them for him. I didn't want Abuelita to have to spend that money on him so I did. But I knew Lupe wouldn't allow that and she would let Abuelita, so I bought them and if Lupe ever asked about them like she did, we would let Abuelita take the credit!

"Mani..." Lupe said. "I can spend my money how I want to." Abuelita explained as she winked at me. "How about contributing to the rent?" Lupe asked. Abuelita immediately responded with, "I'm a senior! I'm on a fixed income!" "Mami, I am trying to teach Alex the value of a dollar." she turned to Alex and continued, "You need to pay for those or send them back. I thought you wanted to get a summer job?"

"Ah, what's the point? I get some money, I spend some money. I mean, what are we doing here?" Alex responded. "Preach." Dad and I said simultaneously. I mean seriously though I spend money but more just comes.

"Alex, those shoes stay in your closet until you find a way to pay Abuelita back." Lupe said to him. "Okay. Fine." he said as he went over to Abuelita and hugged her. Hey, if he had to pay me back I would accept it in a hug. Maybe even a kiss. Anna I oop

"Oh, your debt is forgiven." Abuelita said as the three of us laughed. "Stop pampering him! Scott and Lori are on Vacation. Dr. Berkowitz needs somebody on the office to help with filing. If you want Aaliyah can come with you." Lupe said as I nodded. What I wanted to spend time with Alex... plus I get to see her workplace.
