Chapter I - Rolling Out

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

"Alright everyone, lets move to the hangar!", said Gen. Mitchel.

The hangar?! Yes - I've always wanted to do these kinds of raids! Even if exiting and boarding the aircraft would be tricky - it would still be so cool! Everyone proceeded to the hangar.

"Can someone explain why we didn't head off to the armory before we went here?", asked Gen. Fiona.

"It's funny how the food pantry is like -", said Col. Russ, until he got cut off.

"I didn't ask about your two-way food journey to and from Italy, Captain Pinky - I asked why we didn't grab any gear!", replied Gen. Fiona.

"If I may respectfully interrupt...", said Gen. Mitchel. "...our HQ has a tiny yet loaded mini-armory in all our main rooms; such as the hangar.", he added. "Besides, the Main Armory is the one for emergencies - ironic, isn't it?"

"Whatever, let's just get to the mission briefing.", said Gen. Fiona.

General Mitchel showed us a bunch of pictures of an artifact, and a chart that shows our battle positions, for when entering the area.

"Colonel Russ, you'll be on the frontlines as the Scout. Jaydee will be our Barrier, since he has an axe, and we have a new shield for him to try out. John; you'll be the Rogue, just in case we need a sweep. I'll be third in our siege line. Is this clear to everyone?!", announced Gen. Mitchel.

"Wait a minute - what about me?!", shouted Gen. Fiona.

"Of yeah - you're on the Recon Team. We'll call you when we need help.", answered Gen. Mitchel.

"You don't expect me to be a slave! I don't give backup that easily. Oh; and call me "Fi - I prefer it more.", she replied.

"Oh well, I guess Sheriff Bullets Spray doesn't get to pilot the helicopter and use the Helicopter Recon Gatling Gun. Someone get -", said Gen. Mitchel, until...

"*grabs Gen. Mitchel's collar* You win, punk. Backup it is. But keep this in mind - *lets go* - I'm doing this so I can get a killstreak with that Gatling Gun.", said Gen. Fi.

"Alright...departure is in 30 minutes. Everyone get your stuff ready, go around the HQ to explore if you want and bleh...", said Gen. Mitchel.

Everyone was dismissed from the hangar. Gen. Mitchel went in his office to review some files. Gen. Fi went somewhere - not sure where though. Colonel Russ went back to the Italian Pantry to grab some "energy". Lieutenant Jaydee headed into the Research Lab to grab the shield he was assigned to use for a field test. I was left alone in the hangar - that is, until I went out into the Garden.

I sat on the grass, among the trees - alone. I was thinking of a lot of personal things; my army career, my life, my friends. I was reminded of Beatrice. Then all of a sudden, it's as if things became quiet around me. I closed my eyes for a short while to feel the cool wind. It was so serene and tranquil. I lied down on the grass as I felt at ease. Even if it means leaving my rest, I know I had to go. I sat back up and opened my eyes.

"..."

Quite strangely, I saw a shadowy figure - a silhouette of someone - a 3D figure of someone. It was a girl with long hair. She stood with a height of roughly 5"3', and she looked like she was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, denim pants and black shoes. It was hard to tell who it was; considering that the front portion of her body was facing the sun, resulting in a shadow being cast in front of my face. Minimal light makes it hard to see, you know? Well, the Sun was nearing the horizon, and was about to set in an hour or two. I had a really hard time trying to figure out who she was, and then suddenly, I remember who had hair like that...
