Chapter II - Extreme Violence

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

"Alpha! Charlie! *cough* Help!", called out a coarse voice.

We cautiously approached the North Hall. From there, Col. Russ walked out, carrying Brock in his hands. They were both injured. We ran to help them out, and so that we could patch them up. The whole troop set up a small camp in the middle of the chamber, near the spiral staircase.

"What happened in there?! How did you guys end up like this?!", I asked, as I tried not to freak out.

"It was pretty wicked - messed up. We were just carefully observing, investigating and looking around the hall. I was doing what I was assigned to; commanding Bravo and whatnot. Then suddenly Brock here - ", said Col. Russ, as he pointed to Brock.

"Sup guys.", says Brock, as he sort of salutes.

" - he tripped over something.", reports Col. Russ.

"What exactly did you trip on?", I asked.

"It was like some sort of twisted, rotten branch. After I tripped over it, some blood spewed out from the crack surrounding the branch. The Bravo guys asked if I was okay - and I was. So I stood up and said - hey, let's take a break for a bit.", Brock explained, as he helped himself to an energy drink.

"The whole Bravo team sat down and ate and drank - ", said Col. Russ,

"Wait - you guys were slacking off?", inquired Jaydee.

"I wouldn't call it slacking off - like Brock said; we took a break. Anyway, the Bravo team rested for a bit; except for Brock and I. We looked around the walls of the hall for any info or records or whatever we could find. Suddenly, we found a crack in the wall. Brock called out into the open space behind the crack in the wall. His voice echoed, and we stepped back for a bit. Then a few moments later, we heard this soft growl - like a coarse moan or something. Everyone stopped...", said Col. Russ.

From that moment on, Jaydee and I were a bit freaked out. I started to think if we were alone here or not. I decided to call Gen. Mitchel and tell him about what happened. The whole troop regrouped at our camp, and we enlightened Gen. Mitchel about the situation. When everyone finally caught on, Brock continued;

"We all gripped out weapons and prepared to combat what was approaching us. It became quiet for a while, but the cold silence was broken...when all of a sudden - wham!", he said.

"Some kind of mutant creature smashed through the wall and pinned and knocked Brock down on the cold ground - leaving him temporarily immobilized. The creature was very muscular, in terms of figure. It was a dark-greenish looking figure; tall, about 6 feet in height. He had big knuckles on his hands. I kept shooting at him, but I decided to stop a few moments later. It was then that I realized; it's skin was really tough, and can absorb the bullets - at some points, he was able to shoot them back. I got hit in the arm - by my own rounds. Ironic, huh?", said Col. Russ, as he grabbed a Medkit.

Everyone started panicking.

"Is that all that happened?", inquired Gen. Mitchel.

"No... There's more...", commented Brock.

"The beast pulled out his claws and murdered the whole team. He then turned around and ran at me. I tried to elbow him in the stomach area, but I think we both hit each other. My screen went black, and that's all I could remember.", said Col. Russ, as he carefully takes out the bullet that hit him.
