Chapter 1

"Thank you so much sir! You don't know how grateful I am for this promotion, thank you!"

Darla said while holding her boss' hand.

"Ano ka ba, you deserve it! Matagal na nga dapat yang promotion,
Kung hindi lang talaga naging biglaan yung pagpasok ng kapatid ko dito sa company."

Alfonso explained to his hardworking employee.

"Okay lang yun, Sir Alfonso. Pero seriously, thank you sir!"

"Stop with the thank yous, well deserve naman ang promotion. Sige na, bumalik ka na sa office mo. Congrats ulit!"

"Thank you!"

"I got promoted! Head Manager na ako ng department namin!"

Binalita kaagad ni Darla ang nangyaring promotion. Hindi naman talaga niya inexpect yon.

"Wow, another blessing! I am proud of you, Anak!"

Sinabi ng mom niya sabay yumakap sa anak.

"Thanks, Mom."

"Congrats Ate!" Sabay namang sabi ng mga kapatid ni Darla na si Dennise at Daniel.

Si Dennise ay 4th year college na sa Ateneo de Manila University habang 4th year high school naman si Daniel, sa Ateneo High School. Hinug naman ni Darla ang mga nakababatang kapatid.

"Salamat babies!"

Sabi ni Darla habang hawak hawak ang mga kapatid.

"Hindi na kami babies!"

The two sulked.

"Tse, kahit na grumaduate na kayo, baby ko parin kayo. Kaya wag muna mag boyfriend at girlfriend ha?"

Darla teased the two.

"Eh ano ba talagang balak mo? Biglaan naman kasi yang paglipat mo sa kompanya."

Alfonso asked his sister

"Eh okay lang naman, diba? Atsaka nabo-bore na ako sa buhay ko. Puro pag ba-bar nalang ginagawa ko. Parang gusto ko na mag trabaho. Don't worry, sa HR department naman ako tsaka related yun sa course ko so okay lang."

She tried to reason out. He was surprised.

"Wow, nagbabagong buhay ka na? What happened? I am proud of you!"

He hugged the younger Valdez.

"Grabe ka naman! Kung makapag sabi ka namang nag bagong buhay ako, parang napapariwara ako."

Alyssa tried to sound hurt but she failed.

"Hindi naman sa ganon pero...parang ganun na nga! Haha."

"Aray, sakit nun ah!"

The two laughed.

"So, hindi ka muna mag med school?"

"Yup. After ko nalang mag work, when I feel like going back to school nalang tsaka ako mag med school. Isa pa, gusto ko kasi mag ipon. I am planning on living alone, support myself and be independent."

Dennise stated like everything is ready and planned.

"Oh bakit? Ayaw mo na ba dito sa bahay?"

Darla asked her younger sister.

"Hindi naman sa ganun pero alam mo na 'to dati pa, diba? I really want to try and be independent."

She tried to convince her sister.

Darla sighed.

"Fine. But if you need help, you can always talk to me. Okay?"

"Oh, I know how you can help me!"

"Good morning everyone, please gather."

Alfonso ordered.

"Everyone, I want you to meet someone. This is Alyssa, my younger sister. From this day, she will be working as part of the HR department. She may be a Valdez but that does not mean that she will hold a higher position already. She will go through everything just like everyone else. Please be nice and patient to her. That's all and have a nice day."

Alfonso announced.

"Yes sir."

"Hi Alyssa, I'm Darla the Head Manager of the Human Resource Dept. and I will be your guide and trainer. Is that okay?"

"Yes, Ms. Darla."

Alyssa politely answered, a bit nervous on her first day of work.

"Loosen up, Ms. Valdez or Alyssa?"

"Aly will do, Ms. Darla." She said politely

"Drop the miss, you can call me Darla. So today, we will start with the tour. Will that be okay?" Darla said.

"Yes, Ms-I mean Darla. Let's go."
