Chapter 2

Napaupo si Alyssa sa pagod. Darla found this extremely amusing.

"Pagod ka na? Hindi pa tayo tapos!"

"H-ha? D-di, ano uhm napaupo lang ka-kasi ano..."

Darla chuckled.

"Takot ka parin sa akin? Come on, we can be friends. Isa pa, hindi naman ako gaanong katanda. I'm only 25. How old are you, by the way?"

Darla said trying to strike a conversation with the younger Valdez.

"Uhm I'm only 23, fresh grad." Alyssa answered with a smile.

"Really? You're the same age as my sister. Where did you graduate?"

"UP po, BA Psych"

"Ahhh. My sister's from Ateneo naman, like me. So uhm, are you okay now? Let's continue with the tour before it's lunch break. And please, stop with the 'po'"

"Tara."

"Uhm Darla, saan ka mag la-lunch? U-uhm k-kasi bago palang ako a-and I don't know who to eat with and-"

"Stop rambling, Alyssa."
Darla chuckled.

"Yes you may eat with me. Though I'll fetch my sister first, kasi we always eat lunch together. Okay lang ba?" Darla asked.

"Ha? Uhm edi sige kayo nalang pala. I didn't know you're gonna eat with your sister. Bonding niyo yun eh. Sige I'll ask someone else, or si Kuya nalang siguro or-"
Darla stopped her.

"It's fine, Alyssa. Let's go."

Naglalakad si Dennise nang mahirinig niya ang bumusinang sasakyan.

"Den! Sakay na!" Sigaw ni Darla kay Dennise na nakasilip sa windows.

"Ate! Akala ko nakalimutan mo na akong sunduin." Dennise rode shutgon when she noticed a girl around her age sitting on the backseat through the mirror.

"Uhm Den, that's Alyssa. My boss' sister. Aly, this is Dennise. She is my sister."

"Hi." "Hello Dennise."

"Ohhhhkay. So uhm Den, she will eat lunch with us, okay? Saan niyo ba gustong kumain?" Darla broke the awkwardness between the two.

"Sambo" the two said in unison which made Darla chuckle.

"Okay, Sambo it is." And they head their way out of Ateneo.

Nasa four-seat table ang tatlo sa Sambo. Si Darla at Dennise ay magkatabi.

Sa tapat naman nila ay si Alyssa na tahimik lang at nakayuko habang ginagalaw ang cellphone nito.

"So uhm Alyssa, kelan ka pa grumaduate? Are you a fresh grad?"

Tinanong ni Darla si Alyssa para naman hindi ito masyadong mahiya.

Napatingin naman ito kay Darla.

"A-ah yes, Ms. Darla. Kaka-graduate ko lang last March." Alyssa said stuttering.

"Den, Ly here is my boss' sister but she is under my department. She is also training like others."

"Ahh, I see." Matipid na sagot ni Dennise.

Bigla nanamang tumahimik ang paligid. Nang maramdaman ni Darla ang awkwardness sa dalawa ay nagtanong na siya.

"Have you met each other before?"

"NO!" Sabay namang sagot ng dalawa na ikinagulat ni Darla.

Magtatanong na sana siya kung bakit ganoon ang sagot ng dalawa nang biglang dumating ang inorder nilang pagkain. Habang ang dalawa naman ay nagtitinginan lang.

"Let's eat."
