Chapter 3

"Alyssa," Tinawag ni Darla si Alyssa na napadaan sa office niya.

"May I talk to you for a minute?"

Nabigla naman si Alyssa sa biglaang pagpapatawag sakanya ni Darla. Kinabahan ito.

"Yes, Ms. Darla?" Sabi nito na medyo kinakabahan pa.

"Starting today, magiging assistant kita. This will be part of your training. This task will last for about 4-6 months. We are conducting an observation on you. If you pass the observation, you will start working as a regular employee right away. Gets?"
Darla explained.

Alyssa chuckled while nodding.

"So as my assistant, you will he working close to me. And by that I mean buying me a Starbucks coffee. Haha." Darla teased.

"Okay. What is your order, Maam?"

The two laughed.

"Den, come here."

Napakunot yung noo ni Dennise.

"What is it, Ate Darla?" Dennise asked, confused.

"Do you know Aly? Have you met her before?" Darla asked Dennise again, as if she's sensing that the latter does know her assistant.

This, on the other hand, stunned her.

"Are you hiding something from me, Dennise Michelle?"

"O-of course not. I mean, n-no. I do not know her. Have I met her before? Neither." Dennise replied dumbfounded.

"Then why was it so awkward a while ago?"

Dennise's forehead creased.

"Why are you asking me this? Of course it would be awkward, we barely know each other."

Darla sighed.

"Okay."

"Will that be all?" Dennise asked.

"Yup, you may go. Thanks."

"Okay, cool."

Nasa isang bar si Alyssa kasama ang kaibigan nitong si Gretchen.

"Gretch, I saw her." Sabi nito habang dahan-dahang umiinom ng beer na nasa cup.

"Saw who?" Gretch asked, confused.

"Yung girl. Yung naka hook-up ko last summer."

"Ha? The girl who you were supposed to have a one-night-stand with but was knocked down to sleep while making out with you and left the next morning?" Gretch said without blinking.

Alyssa nodded.

"Yes, THAT girl."

"Woah. How did you-you met her again?"

"She's my boss' sister. We met earlier. My boss, Darla, invited me for lunch. Actually, I did pala. Pero she said na kasama kapatid niya. I had no idea na si Dennise pala yun."

"Dennise? Who's she?"

"The GIRL, you idiot! Why are you so slow?"

Gretchen scratched her head.

"Anyway, yun. We ate lunch on the same table but we didn't speak a single word to each other. Awkward, sa totoo lang."

She sipped from her cup.

"Why are you telling me this? Akala ko ba, wala lang yun? And that it's not a big deal since you don't really hit on girls or something. Diba?"

Alyssa agreed.

"Oo nga, it's just a one-time thing. I guess, nagulat lang ako. Ikaw kaya, makita mo yung first and only girl na you made out with na apparently, kapatid ng boss mo. Hindi ka ba magugulat?"

"Magugulat siyempre. Pero Ly, just a piece of advice. Forget about what happened. It doesn't matter anymore. Focus nalang tayo sa work."

"Good advice. Cheers."
