The second I open the door to see Cece's wide grin as she excitedly holds up a bag filled with bottles of wine, I know I'm in trouble.Because the last time she dropped by with a bag of wine, none of us could move the next day.
I'm still impressed that between the three of us we managed to drink eight bottles of wine that day. Even if I don't remember all of it.
That's probably why I don't remember all of it.
Cece comes rushing in, and heads straight to the living room and starts unloading the wine from the bag and onto the coffee table.
She's bought four bottles, and I'm washed with relief until Arden walks into the room.
'Is that it?' she says pointing to the wine on the table. 'Cece, babes, I think we're going to need a bit more wine than that.'
Cece laughs, her auburn hair bouncing as she nods her head in agreement.
'Let's just see how we get on with these four first,' I interrupt, hoping, praying that this stays as a quiet thing, and not one of our epic wine days that don't even end after we've all ended up on the floor together.
Arden leaves the room and returns less than a minute later holding three wine glasses. Three of our big wine glasses and I know that today isn't going to stay as a small quiet thing.
So, what the hell? I haven't got anywhere I need to be.
Cece pours me a glass of red, so I guess we're not starting with one of the lighter wines. Personally, I'm a fan of the rosé that really should be chilling in the fridge.
'Can we have carefree Callie today?' Cece says, looking up at me over the rim of her glass as she sips on her wine.
It's like she knows exactly what I was thinking.
So I roll my eyes and nod my head. I even make a big show out of turning the radio on and turning the volume up, before downing the contents of my glass while Dua Lipa plays in the background.
It's not even noon yet. We've skipped the breakfast wines and gone straight to the evening ones.
Cece refills my glass and stands up to dance with me and all my worries and cares are forgotten in the moment. Because what is better than drinking and dancing with your best friends when you need a distraction?
It doesn't last forever though, because by the time we've finished the second bottle (about half an hour later - which sounds bad but it is being split between the three of us) we're all out of breath and we've ended up on the floor earlier than I thought we would.
Which is definitely not a good sign of how the day is going to go.
I'm sat between both Arden and Cece and they somehow both rest their heads on my shoulders at the same time. Did they practice that?
