Here are some exercises you can use to improve your writing!
General: Write a poem or short story every day.
Characters: Write a list of 10 adjectives to describe a character, then try to narrow that list down to 7. These 7 traits will be the key facets in your character's personality.
Writing Prose: Come up with a good line in the shower? Write it down, and come back to it later when you're having trouble.
Metaphors: Take an everyday object and try to link it to something else, I.e. "The horn case lay open on it's side like a gaping clam shell. Write 10 or 15 of these a day.
Imagery: Describe an everyday object or scene I.e. "Raindrops glistened on the bare twigs in the early morning light like gemstones.
