"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me!" A nerd that i haven't spoken too yet was taunting a couple of jocks in front of him as they stood in the middle of the hallway beside a picture of the same geek that read 'vote for Earnest.'

"Alright, you asked for it!" The dark-skinned jock spoke in a super deep voice as he suddenly grabbed onto who i speculated was Earnest and tightened his knuckles around his collar.

"Wait, what's this?" The second jock interrupted, pointing towards the poster of Earnest on the wall. "You're running for class president?"

"I'm the most suitable candidate!" Earnest confirmed as he was released from the jock's grip, then pouted as the two of them began to laugh.

"Yeah, right!"

"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" I butted in, approaching the scene and causing all eyes to land on me. "Leave him alone."

"Listen to her, you idiots." Jimmy came around from the other side of the hallway, revealing his presence as he furrowed his eyebrows. "You don't wanna mess with her, trust me."

"Then, we'll mess with you." One of the jocks retaliated towards the ginger, then clenched his fists while i stared at Jimmy in awe from his comment.

"Can this please wait until later? I have a speech to go do!" Earnest whined, begging for everyone to drop the subject. "I can't be late, or i'll never get to become class president!"

"You hear that?" The jock with the buzz cut nudged his friend's shoulder, then chuckled evily.

"Are we done here?" I tapped my foot impatiently, watching the jocks continue to act suspicious.

"See you at the auditorium, nerd." The jocks snickered once again, then walked into the next hall and left the three of us alone.

"That was strange." I voiced, my attention trailing back and forth between Jimmy and Earnest.

"What's going on, Earnest?" Jimmy demanded for answers. "What was that about?"

"Uh, you guys will vote for me, won't you?" He switched the topic, avoiding the confrontation.

"Yeah, not a chance." Jimmy attempted to leave, but was stopped once Earnest started to bargain.

"But, i'll pay you!"

"Pay me? Now, we're talking."

"I always knew i was a born leader!"

"Are you guys really going to forget about what just happened?" I sighed in disbelief, getting annoyed by their banter. "Those jocks are going to try to ruin your speech, was it not obvious?"

"True, even buying everyone's votes won't get you out of that one." Jimmy agreed, causing Earnest to moan out of sadness.

"Well, hold on! What if i had security?" Earnest suddenly proposed, making me tilt my head.

"Oh, i don't know. Hiring security costs a lot of money, right?" Jimmy teased as he made eye contact with me, bringing up one of our inside jokes.

"I have money!"

"Perfect, i knew i was a politician at heart."

"Well, what are we supposed to do?" I stated the obvious, thinking of the reality in this deal. "Guard the doors? The stage? Beat up some jocks?"

"Let me handle it, it's a one-person job." Jimmy insisted, making me hesitate.

"Are you sure, Hopkins?"
