Chapter Sixteen: The Maze

The crowd around Sophie gasped at the sight of her teleporting. Harry sprinted to Sophie and helped her up.
"Are you alright? What just happened?"
Dumbledore stepped forward, "Yes, what did happen Miss Foster?"
Sophie brushes off her cloak, "I can't explain, but you have to let me compete. I can't go back!"
"Go back where?" Dumbledore inquired.
Sophie searched for an answer, but Harry butted in. "She can't go back to Hagrid. He was keeping her behind for detention, but Hagrid says she's fine now"
Sophie smiled at Harry and Dumbledore eyed them suspiciously.
"Alright then. Students and teachers, this is it. The last challenge. Inside this maze, the Triwizard cup is hidden. Find it and you win. Champions, get ready"
Sophie stood at the edge of her entrance and stared into the thorny maze in front of her. Dumbledore raised his wand and the crowd leaned forward. He brought it down and the band started to play. Sophie stepped into the maze and the hedges closed around her.
Sophie walked through the mist, but started to run after a while. She dashed right, left, right. Soon, Sophie had no idea where she was. She wandered through, goblin star in hand.
She suddenly heard shouting and ran towards the sounds.
Harry was pulling Fleur out of the hedge. Sophie fell to her knees and helped pull the branches off of Fleur, but it was no use. The maze consumed her and Sophie and Harry panted in the silence.
"So..... can we talk about what happened to you? When you left?" Harry asked.
Sophie groaned, "I didn't leave, I told you. I was drugged"
Harry lifted her chin, "Sophie, are you alright?"
Sophie took a deep breath, "No, I was created to be something I'm don't want to be. I just....."
Harry held out his hand, "Show me"
Sophie wanted him to see everything she had been through, she wanted him to understand. He was the only one who would. She touched his hand and slipped into his mind. She shared every memory, Neverseen, Fintan, mallowmelts, Grady and Edaline, her life before everything. Harry sucked in a breath and Sophie stopped.
"Now you know" Sophie whispered.
Tears streamed down Harry's cheeks, "I'm so sorry. I'll never let anyone take you ever again"
He leaned into kiss her when the maze shifted and a new passage opened. A few feet away stood the glowing cup.
Cedric burst down the path and they all started running. The maze grabbed at Cedric and pulled him down. Harry looked at the cup, then back at Cedric. He finally ran back to help him and Sophie followed.
"Thanks" Cedric groaned.
The three walked together down the path. When they reached the cup, Sophie turned to them and said, "We reach for it, together"
The boys smiled and they all clasped the cup. Suddenly, Sophie's world began to spin quickly.
"What's going on!" She yelled.
Harry's face drained, "It's a portkey"
