"Out of country mission, AWESOME!" Wally tried to high-five him. Robin turned away, pouting. No one knew why, until Batman spoke up.

"Robin is not going on this mission."

"But the rest of the team is going!" The youngest team member whined. "It's not like I'm not gonna get hurt or anything, this mission is easy!"

"You are not going on this mission." His mentor stated firmly. "There are diseases running rampent there, and It's too dangerous."

"The others can go!" The thirteen-year-old stuck out his chin stubbornly, he wasn't only trying to act tough, he was wanted to be on this mission.

"Aqualad, Ms. Martian, superboy and kid flash have immunity to most pathogens in that region."

"What about Her?" He waved an angery hand at Artemis. "We're both normal humans, why can she go?"

"Artemis in up to date on her vaccinations." The man sounded impatient.

"I'll probably be fine! Herd immunity, right?" He turned to look around at his teammates, desperately.

"It's too dangerous for you."

"B!" He lowered his voice to a whisper, his whole face stinging, burning pink. "You're embarrassing me!"

"Robin," A single glare made the boy shut up. "You're acting like a child." He knew that would cut his adopted son deeper than anything else he'd said. "I'm not arguing with you."

The boy finally turned and stormed from the room. He stomped down the hall, head down, furious, until he ran directly into someone.

A brief pause as he steadied himself. "Robin," the other figure sighed, I was just on my way to find you." Black Canary exclaimed, taking his arm. "Come on, those vaccines are ready."

Reluctantly, he let her lead him to the med bay. "Shouldnt I go to a doctor for this?"

She smiled. "Sit here, it'll only take a couple minutes to prep it."

The 'couple minutes' quickly became a five-to-ten minute estimate. Dick swung his feet back and forth on the medical table, still fuming. The door pushed open, showing the silloette of his mentor.

"Is it ready?"

"Nearly." Black Canary help up a vile. "All we need now is a needle."

"Are you alright?"

The boy looked away, hiding his face. "Fine. What's the point of getting the vaccine if the mission will be over by the time it works." Dick spat bitterly.

"The point is that you're safe." His father stood next to him. He inched away on the table, still angry.

"Okay, here we go!" Dianah made sure there were no air bubbles in the syringe. "Deep breaths, Dickie." She tried to find his vien. He began taking long, shallow breaths, blinking hard. He hated needles and Bruce knew it. "Relax your muscles, sweetie." She reassured him, softly.

He did, trying to be brave. A needle pricked his left forearm. In an instant, the boy grabbed his father's arm, clutching it like a lifesaver. He panted softly, holding on like his life depended on it.

Bruce wasn't really bothered by Dick's stubbornness, the kid got it from him, after all. He let the boy grip his arm until the vaccination was well over.

Dick suddenly broke away, returning to his cocky, 'cool teenager' attitude, as if that hadn't just happened. "So, what now? Do I get a lolipop?" He joked.

"I'm sure that can be arranged."
