Dropping Hints (Alternative Title; THEY'RE CALLED LESBIANS)

"Roy?" Artemis gave him puppy eyes, speaking in something that was almost a baby voice.

"What?" He growled, not trusting this change in attitude.

"Can you carry my phone... and my chapstick?"

"Carry it yourself."

"I don't have pockets!" She whined.

"Ask one of the boys to carry it."

"Wally's already carrying two phones and wallets because Robin wears girl's pants too."

"They're men's size zero!" Robin shouted across the room, fastening his shoes.

"More like men's size -14!"

"They're little girl jeans!" Artemis yelled back. "Are you guys ready?"

"One sec." Zatanna, who was also visiting that day, buttoned her flannel up to the top over her undershirt. "I'm ready. Guys?"

Robin threw on a jacket over his hoodie, Wally was always warm so he didn't grab a coat, he just rocked his button-up-tee-over-long-sleeved-shirt look. The redhead looked like he'd stepped out of a twitter post about 2011. "Ms. M, are you two ready?"

"Yep. CONNER, ARE YOU COMING?" She shouted down the hall, paused for a second and said, "he'll catch up with us."

The first stop was the grocery store, for snacks; Wally got a family sized bag of kethup chips, whereas the girls splurdged for a bag of peanut MnMs, which barely fit in Zatanna's bag, and a pack of doublemint gum.

"Don't want anything else?" Robin asked.

"I'm not trying to go bankrupt." Zatanna replied.

"What? Guys, I'm paying." The boy asked Wally to pass his wallet.

"Uh, with what? V-bucks? You're thitreen."

He looked very offended. "I have an allowence." He started pulling out some cash. Roy tried to slide his bottle of Dr. Pepper on the belt. "Uh, no. you can afford buy that."

"Hey Rob, I bet I can make you pay for my drink with one word."

"What?" He put his hands on his hips.

"Pixieboots."

Robin withered a little. "Put it on." 

Shortly they were all strolling by the ocean on a sort of boardwalk and chatting. That's where they met up with Conner.

"There you are." He looked around them, there were a few couples around them on the sand, making out and otherwise being obviously cutsie. "Look at all these breeders." He said disgustedly.

Roy choked on his soda. "Su- Con, you're straight." The half-kryptonian gave him a 'so what' look. "Dude, you are a breeder!"

Conner shrugged, walking alongside his girlfriend. "Doesn't mean they don't suck sometimes.

Roy shrunk back, trying not to laugh. Without Aqualad there (Kaldur was working something out in Atlantis) Roy was a bit of a seventh wheel. He opted to listen in on the girls, who were a few paces ahead.

"Can I have some MnMs?" The blonde asked.

The other nodded, letting Artemis open her backpack and retrieve the chocolate. She offered Zatanna gum, which she accepted. "Your outfit is cute." She said, chewing busily.

"Thanks I guess." Artemis said looking down at her fit; jeans and an oversized polo shirt. "I love yours two! I lost my flannel lately, but..." she shrugged.

Roy cringed, walking behind them as they carried on a little. The two were walking very close to each other, currently talking about this creep at Artemis' school.

"Takes a picture of my AT THE GYM. WITHOUT my conset." She annunciated every word. "This perv sends it TO THE CLASS GROUPCHAT!" She stepped back as though having just blown Zatanna's mind.

"Ew!" She replied. "What'd you do?"

"Told him to go fuck himself... on the groupchat."

"NO!"

"Yep! That shut him up!" Artemis grinned, popping an MnM into her mouth. "Little bitch."

"I know. I hate guys!" 

They walked next to each other awkwardly, until Artemis said, "holy shit, those are so pretty!" She pointed to some seashells.

"Awe! Those would be perfect for making earrings with!" The blackhaird girl giggled, picking them up to admire. Things went quiet again, until Zatanna finally looked up and asked, "do you listen to Girl in Red?"

Artemis thought about it. "No, but I am into girls."

Roy tripped over a stray wooden board, his eyes huge, mouth agape. Holy shit.

"Neat, uh, same." Zatanna giggled. "Do you like cats...?"

The redhead froze, mouth wide, stunned. Asking if she liked cats was basically a lesbian proposal. He watched them hurry along, confused, yet, stoked about what he'd heard. He turned to see if anyone else heard. 

Conner and M'gann continued past him, oblivious. Where were the boys? He turned to see a pretty girl, about Artemis' age, chatting up Dick, her friend sneaking photos of him. Dick looked uncomfortable, glancing to Wally, who was letting the scene play out. The girl gave Robin a peice of paper and hurried back to the beach.

Unsure of how to proceed, Dick looked at the paper and tore it into quarters. Wally was laughing. "Dude, that was her number!"

"I didn't want her number. I kept trying to signal That I wasn't interested, but she kept trying."

"Girls are tough about those things."

Robin moaned. "I hate girls, they're so weird!" The two of them hurried to catch up with the others. "Wanna come over to my place and watch A Very Potter Sequel tonight?"

"Sure!"

Roy pretended he hadn't just been listening. He couldn't wait to keep up with the Teen's relationship drama.
