-SUMMERS POV-
I wake from the sound of my alarm going off. Ugh not school!! I want it to be the holidays again!
I have moved schools so many times and apparently this is the last time I'm moving, that's what they told us when we moved this year anyway, but that's also what my parents have said everytime but then Dad has to train somewhere else blah blah blah!!
"SUMMER GET UP!" my Mum screams out from downstairs. I do like this house, that's pretty much the only reason I want to stay here, the ONLY reason, there's not even any hot guys at my school, can you believe that, none whatsoever!
"FIVE MORE MINUTES!" I yell back and roll over. I under-estimated where I was on my bed and fall off. I groan and lay there for a few seconds. "UGH!" I yell as I get up.
"Are you up now?" my Mum smirks. I look at her and then slouch. I walk over to the ensuite and brush my hair and teeth, I apply my make up, and put on a light brown, almost creamy coloured, baggy sweater and some light blue, denim skinny jeans.
"What's for breakfast?" I yawn and sit down at the breakfast bar, I prop my head up with my hands and rest my elbows on the bench.
"Its pancake day, your favourite" Mum smiles. Of course Dad is out the back with Damien shooting hoops, that's all they ever do. Or sit and watch basketball, or talk about basketball, or sometimes, if Damien is lucky, Dad will take Damien to the training place that Dad trains in (I don't pay much attention to those sort of things). I may say myself that the 'training place' is pretty cool.
I smiled "yum" and lick my lips looking over at the pancakes cooking. I try to hear the boys shooting hoops but I couldn't, the TV's not on and Dad's and Damien's cars weren't in the garage. "Where are the boys?" I ask.
"Well Dad's gone to work early and Damien slept over Jacob's last night" Mum says sitting up on the bench. I nod, oh yeah he did too. That shows how much I care...
Mum finishes cooking the pancakes and plates them. Three for me, four for her. We load them with maple syrup and eat for our lives. Manners are a no in our family.
I hear my phone ding. It's from Lauren. 'U still on 4 din 2night?' the text reads. I smile.
'Yer toatz!! :D' I reply. I have never been to the Karaoke bar on Sam Street but apparently it has good food and a wide selection of songs to sing. Not that I'm going to sing anyways. "Whats up with you. Is it a boyfriend or something" Mum teases.
"Mum just because you and Dad fell in love in High School doesn't mean I will too. Im going out for dinner tonight with some of the girls, is that alright?' I ask crossing my fingers, hoping she'll say yes.
"Sure, we have nothing planned tonight" she shrugs.
I smile. "Thanks Mum" I say and kiss her cheek, almost falling off my chair. What's with me and falling today?
"New Years 1998" Mum says this alot. Its the day my parents met and mum loves her falling in love story, she says once she saw her husband it started to feel like a movie. I always laugh at her silliness. A movie..pfft.
"Mum, do you even realise how much you say that?" I roll my eyes. She says it a lot, maybe it brings her life together or makes her happy or some sort of coping strategy. I dont know, I'm not a therapist. Well maybe I am but I dont know.
"Do I care?" she smiles and hops down from the bench. She puts the plates in the sink and I walk up to my room. I put my brown, commando boots on and Mum's already waiting in the car.
"Mum I can drive myself you know" I say getting in the car. My mum is an over type of person. Over generous, over happy all the time and over cautious.
"This saves more fuel" She replies starting the engine and starts reversing.
"And we need the extra money because..." I ask raising an eyebrow. Ok not to brag but because my Dad plays NBA he is like totally rich, that's why we can afford nice cars, big houses and moving all the time.
"Its not about the money its about the enviroment" Mum says like its obvious. Oh right because that's the first thing 20th century kids think of when they think of fuel! Duh guys!
"Oh right" I say like it was stupid of me not to know that. We pull up at school and all the buses are just arriving. "bye mama" I kiss her cheek and leave.
"Bye honey" Mum says and drives off. She drives like a maniac. She's weird but I can't change my family. Embrace them because you cant replace them. I exhale and walk into the building to my locker, its so bare but I couldnt care less.
"Summer. Summer, Summer" Lauren comes rushing around the corner out of breath.
"Hi?" I say closing my locker and staring at her, trying to figure her out. "Wassup?" I ask confused.
"He-He-he asked me out" she eventually gets out. Oh yay just another one of my friends that gonna ditch me for a boy. Go team friendship! Not.
"Oh wow that's so great" I lie, but I play it fake, as usual. Like my Mum says 'fake it till you make it', she's just joking though...I hope.
I can't wait till I move again. Im scheduled to move next term, according to every other time we move.
"He called me last night" she says fixing up her short brown hair. Haha what a loser, getting asked out by an ugly guy over the phone, it was probably a prank.
"Have you talked to him in person?" I bite my lip.
She shakes her head "Nope, but we texted for about half an hour last night" she says. Ha only half an hour, this is so a prank.
"Uhm be careful okay, it could be a prank. But if not, CONGRATULATIONS!" I sing and then walk off. Here comes the evidence that I had sugar this morning. Look, I didn't want to tell her it was a prank but if it is and I didn't warn her imagine how much of a bad friend I would be. I hope she sees it in that way.
"Well thank you for looking out for me but I think i'll be alright" she smiles and walks off to class, me following behind.
"So how were your holidays?" I ask smiling at everyone who walks past.
Lauren shrugs "alright I guess. I have been to New York so many times it kind of not fun anymore, you know what I mean?" she half smiles, yes I always feel that way because I have waaaay too many shoes, and having soooo many just gets boring.
Imagine if I actually said that. Her reaction would be so funny!
I nod, I should probably just play it safe, make her feel like I care about her spoilt situation "Like me and moving, it was sorta fun the first time but now its old" We walk into Mr Spendas class, everyone was already sitting down. He smiles at us.
"Welcome back girls" he nods and indecates for us to sit down
"Thank you Mr S" Lauren and I say in unison. We sit down and one of the messanger ladies come in.
"Hello Mrs Jender" Mr S smiles walking over to her "What can I do for you"
"Good morning, could I please have Miss Bolten" She smiles at me "Shes going home early today"
"Really! This early?" Mr S nods impressed. "Well isn't it your lucky day" He smiles as I hug Lauren goodbye.
"Learn lots" I giggle and walk away.
"No promises" She rolls her eyes.
