By the end of the second half, they’re winning 6-4 and that should be exciting. It should be.. except that it could have been 6-1 if Taehyung was on top of his game. He’s trying, he really is, but he’s just been so off all game. Three of those goals were his fault (of course the rest of the team would disagree but he knows the truth). The first one he lunged too early and way to big so the play easily stepped around him and he wasn’t in a position to recover easily. The second one he stumbled over his own fucking feet and the third he completely forgot there was a player to his left that could be passed to. Thank god they have a really strong offense otherwise his mistakes could have cost them the game.
So yeah, even though they end up winning, Taehyung’s not exactly happy about his performance.
Hoseok picks up on his mood right away and finds him as soon as they all get in the locker room. He hugs him from behind, tucking his chin into Taehyung’s neck.
“Agh, dude I’m sweaty and gross.” He objects but makes no actual effort to get the elder off him.
“I don’t care.” Hoseok says decisively, squeezing tighter until Taehyung breaks into a smile. “Stop beating yourself up, everyone has off days and we won anyway so it doesn’t matter!”
Taehyung laughs at the fact that his best friend knew exactly why he was upset without having to say a single word. He’s always loved that about him. You never need to say anything about how you’re feeling, Hoseok just knows.
“Alright everyone gather round!” Jungkook’s voice rings loudly through the locker room, his face bright with excitement. “I’m honestly so proud of you guys, all our hard work this week really paid off! Everyone was on top of their game and playing well together which I’m honestly so thankful for because it made my job so much easier.” The guys laugh, but Taehyung sinks a little, he knows he wasn’t on top of his game and he still feels awful about it. Jungkook seems to notice because you looks him dead in the eye as he says “You all played amazing.”
“Jungkook’s right. I’m really proud of the progress we’re making. If we keep going on this track we’re guaranteed a spot at the championships.” Seokjin chimes in from where he and Yoongi are sitting in the back watching the captain speak.
There’s a loud roar at the mention of championships and between the excitement of his teammates and the subtle reassurance from Jungkook, it finally allows Taehyung to break into a smile.
“In celebration of our first win of the season, I think a little team outing tonight to the new club on 5th is in order!” Jungkook smirks to the shouts of agreement from the team. “Drinks on our lovely Coaches!” He adds with a sly grin.
Seokjin and Yoongi laugh and shake their heads. “Alright, fine you brat. Only because you and Taehyung got your shit together, but don’t think this is gonna become a recurring thing.” The eldest sighs with a smile. “Okay everyone get your asses home and shower. You all reek.”
Taehyung laughs, loving the playful energy radiating in the room. As cheesy as it is, this team really is like a family to him. Even the new players have already wormed their way into his heart. At the end of the day, this is what it’s all about.
From the moment he and Hoseok enter the building, Taehyung can tell why this club has had people raving about it left and right since it opened.
Crowds of people gather around the dance floor, the bars, and booths, everything in the place is modern design, sleek black and white surfaces gleaming in the purple, blue, and red lights filling the place. The bar is like a giant black light, illuminating the multicolored drinks resting on it. Not to mention the dj is insane and Taehyung already is aching to get out there and start dancing.
