the whole world is different from yesterday
just, with your joy
____________________________________since winter was coming soon, the sun was still in the midst of rising as jimin and naeun arrived at the rooftop.
puffy white clouds were scattered in the sky, the sky a shade mixed with light blue and warm orange.
although jimin was set on chilling on the benches, naeun makes her way in a different direction, walking over to the ladder.
jimin turns to her, as she giddly skips over to the ladder and begins to climb it. he frowns in conusion, "where are you going?"
"come on!" she yells, motioning him to come over with her hand. she arrives on the roof of the small hut, and leans over to look at jimin below her.
"are you scared or something?" she asks with a mocking smile, and jimin shakes his head quickly, before running over to the ladder and climbing it.
he finds himself taking a seat beside naeun, their legs dangling over the edge. he looked up to see the clear view of the city around them, and it was much better than seeing a bunch of fences around him.
"you sit up here often?" jimin speaks up among their comfortable silence, and naeun nods happily.
"mhm. i've skipped class a few times to come up here," she says shamelessly, and jimin couldn't help but shoot her a look of shock. "seriously?"
naeun looks back at him, giving him a look of attitude as she notices his shock. "yeah. you got a problem?"
jimin pursues his lips, hesitating. even though he wasn't one to skip classes, sometimes people had their own reasons to come up here.

naeun sighs, looking into the distance. the cool morning breeze brushed against the two, causing her hood to fly off her head, fully revealing her face. her skin glowed in the morning sun.
she inhaled slowly, breathing in the calm atmosphere.
"i'm not the kind to come up here because i don't care about my grades," she begins to speak, making jimin look at her again.
she doesn't meet his eyes, and continues to stare at the city in front of them.
"i'm the kind to come up here because sometimes i'm too distracted, that being in class wouldn't do any good for me."
jimin tilts his head, studying her sudden emotional expression. even though it was subtle, it was still noticeable.
"my mind gets clouded a lot, and coming up here, it helps me clear my mind. let my thoughts out into the air."
she snickers to herself, looking down at her feet. "i mean, figuratively. i don't talk to myself."
jimin listened to every word she said intently. he's never seen naeun talk so calmly like this to him, especially since they were each other's competition.
(why would she open up to me?)
her eyes meet his wondrous ones, and she could sense that jimin was trying to understand her. she chuckles softly, "why're you looking at me like that, park?"
it was like he was snapped out of a trance, as he clears his throat, looking away from her briefly.
"n-nothing i was just-" he rubs his nape awkwardly. "i was just trying to understand why you were telling me those kinds of things, when we're basically enemies."
naeun nods, humming thoughtfully.
he looks back at her again, and he sees naeun's lips curve up into a small smile. "you know why you're my enemy, jimin?"
she tilts her head at him, as he raises an eyebrow anticipation.
"it's because i admire you."
her words take him by surprise, as he inches back, his features forming into a frown. noticing this, naeun continues.
"i admire you as a dancer. you're talented, and you deserve to be on the elite team. i can see why you've become ms jang's favorite alongside me,"
jimin's frown grows deeper at naeun's compliments. is she trying to play around with him or is she being serious?
"naeun, what are you-"
"i admire you as a person, too. you're not afraid to take my place, and you're not afraid to be against me. from the moment i met you, there was a spark in you i had never seen in anyone else on the team."
naeun spoke so calmly and sweetly, it was scaring jimin quite a bit. he had no idea why she was telling him all these things, out of everything they could talk about.
her gaze in him deepens, as she leans closer to his face. "you're my enemy because i admire you, park. in every way. it gives me all the more reason to compete against you."
she smirks coyly. "and if you're wondering why i'm opening up to you.." she trails off, "i'm showing you my weaknesses, before i can show you my strengths."
feeling satisfied at jimin's confusion, she inches back and goes back to staring off into the distance.
speechless, jimin tries to take in the words she told him.
they're enemies because she admires him..?
it made sense. jimin knew how much of a good dancer she was. that's why he picked her out of all people to dance with him to save his dad's club.
he also understood why she admired jimin's energy. he could admit, everyone else on the team was very reluctant to compete against naeun, much less himself.
it was a strange way to put it, but it all made sense in the end.
"you never fail to surprise me, huh?"
jimin says, earning a hearty laugh from naeun. "you have a lot more to see from me, park."
