We walked side by side in comfortable silence towards the cowsheds. I had nicked Lizzie's welly boots, as she was the same size as me, which was very handy at times. We had often borrowed shoes off each other when we were teenagers.
I began to think about what the plan of action would be made, as it seemed that I was going to be missing the negotiation part of it. Not that I minded, as I would rather spend some time in a cowshed with Gideon than listen to them all squabble in the farm house.
So into my musings, I did not realise that a shovel had been left lying around in the cowshed, until I tripped over it, flaying around like on a tightrope, then went sprawling into Gideon, who'd turned to see what the commotion was about at the right time, as I sailed in an undignified way right at him, taking him to the ground, which resulted in me straddling him, his arms around by waist.
'I...umm.... sorry,' I stammered out, feeling very flustered at the feel of his body moulded against mine.
'Hmm, I quite like this position,' he teased me, grinning at me, obviously enjoying me being so close to him. I flushed red at his words, which just made him grin even more.
'I...we should part, with me getting off you,' I foolishly suggested.
'You can get off anytime you want to,' Gideon whispered his innuendo at me. It just served to make me even more flustered.
'You aren't hurt, are you?' I quizzed him, as I my hands roamed over his body looking for any injuries, or that was what I told myself, which was better than him thinking I was feeling him up.
'Sure, you can play nurse anytime' Gideon stated, before he suddenly flipped me over so I was on the bottom and he was hovered above me in the messy straw. 'I think I like this position even more than the last one,' Gideon huskily said, his eyes filled with desire.
I shivered with pleasure, sighing out as his thumb began to make small circles on the exposed skin of my midriff, where my shirt had ridden up. His head lowered excruciatingly slowly towards my own. I felt his warm breath on my face. Come on kiss me, I thought with wild abandon.
His lips had just brushed mine before a furry missile landed on us. It was Meg. She took one look at us and began slobbering on both of us. Gideon untangled our limbs from one another before he helped me to my feet. We were both breathing heavily from our almost kiss, as Meg bounded in between us like a rocket, so pleased to see us, when in my case it was quite the reverse just then.
'Right, umm... the calves,' Gideon said to himself like he was trying to remember why he had taken me out to the cow shed. He glared at Meg.
Still holding my hand from when he had helped me off the floor, he led me to a pen. Inside were several calves with their mothers. He unhitched the gate, before letting us through, closing it behind him to keep Meg out, who rested her paws on the top of the gate and gave an annoyed like bark, which Gideon ignored.
A rather boisterous calf came in our direction, thinking that we had food or something like that. It was black and white, had a cute patch of black over one eye and very long eyelashes.
'Cara, meet Cara,' Gideon announced as Cara the calf, greeted me with a butt of her little head against my leg in affection, While Gideon looked on, leaning on the gate, watching us meet for the first time.
'She's lovely,' I cooed over her, even if she was trying to eat my clothes for her dinner.
'That she is,' Gideon gruffly replied, as I turned my head to see that he was looking at me, and not Cara the calf.
'Something wrong?' I asked him, playing him at his own game.
'No, nothing at all,' he lied, now looking at the calf and not me. 'I'm right about the legs though, they do go on forever and are a lovely shape.'
