I glanced down at my watch as Travis paced back and forth impatiently.
"Are you sure she said to meet here?" He asked, shaking his hands of any nerves.
This was the first time any of us would get to see Tammy after she was pronounced dead and the idea of seeing her both had us on edge.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him towards me. "Breathe." Travis took a deep breath and, slowly, he started to calm down.
"Thank you," he whispered, caressing my cheek.
"For?"
He shrugged, licking his lips and my stomach did backflips. Ever since I told Liam my deepest secret, I felt light as a feather. It was freeing to finally not be consumed with grief and guilt.
"Being here with me."
Travis was being extra nice with me for some reason but I wasn't complaining. I liked that we were finally on in a good chapter.
"Glad to see my death brought you two back together."
I rolled my eyes, letting go of Travis and faced the girl who made my life a living hell. Tammy looked the same, except her once blond hair was now dyed dark brown and her choice in wardrobe bordered the line between goth and rock.
"Tam? Is that really you?" Travis asked, approaching her and when she nodded, they both embraced one another.
It was a fascinating sight to see them reunite and I might have teared up if I wasn't tortured by her for almost two years.
When Travis and Tammy finally let go of each other, she turned to me. "No hug?"
I scoffed, ignoring her sarcastic remark. "For someone who should be dead, you really left a hell of a mess behind."
"Kay, lay off." Travis sent me a warning glare and I folded my arms.
"It's okay, big brother. She's right and I want to help."
I scoffed again. "Oh yeah? And how do you plan on doing that, Tammy? By miraculously crawling out the grave that we buried you in?"
"Kayla, enough!"
Travis was upset with me but I didn't care. Axel was dead and Taylor was in the hospital fighting for her life while Tammy got off easy.
"For the record, Taylor would be dead if it wasn't for me."
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "What?"
"I was the one who found your sister and called the police. I risked being seen because I still cared about you."
"You cared about me? You made my life a living hell. You were supposed to be my friend. I had your back and you threw me a side."
"No, you threw me aside when you slept with my boyfriend."
I was glad this was happening now. I wasn't scared of her anymore and grew thicker skin over the last couple of months. Travis didn't interfere anymore because he knew it too.
"I trusted you, Kay. You were like a sister to me but you broke my trust. You could have came to me about the messages and I would have understood because that's what sisters do. They forgive."
Sighing, I finally felt where Tammy was coming from. She loved me too much and I shattered her confidence in me. "You're right and I apologize for everything."
