Emmaline's POV:
I made my way through the crowd, gently squeezing between dancing bodies. In a mildly panicked search to find anyone I knew. One of my deepest fears is becoming outcast from the crowd. I know I shouldn't care about all that, but I just need to feel like people like me.
My savior came in the form of Marcie Thomason. She walked up behind me and tapped my shoulder, probably sensing how uncomfortable with being alone I was.
"How are you liking the party?" Marcie asked, reminding me that this actually was her house.
"Oh it's great thank you so much for having me" I replied, taken aback by her kindness.
"Of course, I know it's hard being the new girl, I moved here a few years ago," she said a little sadly.
I didn't have time to reply because suddenly the band walked onto the stage, and Marcie let out a squeal, not unlike Angel. I'm hoping this one is for the music though not an obsession over one of the musicians.
"I'm so glad they said they'd play here, their music is so good. Plus the lead singer isn't bad to look at don't you think?" Marcie giggled loudly over the cheering.
I felt an odd twinge in my chest when she said that. I knew Ross was the lead singer, does she have a crush on him? It doesn't matter anyway. I have Link, I shouldn't care who likes Ross. The thoughts were soon pushed from my head as the guys started strumming chords.
They started to play a song they announced as "Pass Me By". The loud guitars and banging drums filled my ears before a raspy voice filled my ears. My eyes shot up in disbelief. I knew theoretically Ross could sing but I never imagined he'd sound like that. His soothing voice began to sing.
As the song progressed almost everyone in the crowd was dancing. Marcie, who remained with me, was dancing wildly, seemingly having the time of her life. The only thing stopping me from going crazy dancing was the odd feeling that I needed to just watch Ross sing. The way being on stage transformed him from being the quiet boy who held open doors for me, to the seemingly wild man on stage, practically screaming the lyrics, managing to still sing clearly was astounding. I watched as his toned arms plucked the guitar, with his shirt sleeves rolled up past his elbows. His shaggy blonde hair was everywhere, making him seem simultaneously angelic and rock and roll.
I tried to shake the way watching Ross made me feel and just dance, but it remained in the back of my mind the rest of their set. Marcie and I danced crazily, as I enjoyed spending time with a not completely boy obsessed friend. Once the set ended a large bang was heard from upstairs, causing Marcie to rush away from me, running up the stairs to make sure nothing broke. I made my way towards the kitchen to find myself some water to drink, exhausted already.
"Did you like the show doll? Sure seemed like you liked the view." I heard a deep voice say behind me.
I turned around quickly, shocked to see a sweaty Ross standing behind me. Managing to look angelic when everything about him was devilish, from his unbuttoned shirt, to his cocky grin.
Shocked at the words coming out of his mouth, I only managed to utter an "uhhhh" in response.
"What, cat got your tongue, or do I just look that good?" Ross questioned, snapping me back to my senses.
"Excuse you?!" I nearly screeched, crossed between fuming and embarrassed.
"What makes you think I was staring at you?! Don't get all high and mighty just because you played guitar well you box dyed wannabe freak." I defended myself, before turning on my heel and practically running out of the kitchen before Ross could see the bright red color that had painted my cheeks and the embarrassed tears that threatened the corners of my eyes.
