Summing it up

In the beginning, I was fine. I would take care of myself, and my mother on occasion. Eventually I had gotten my mom a job interview. She went and some magical way, she got the job. Her money came in and we were able to move out of the dump we lived in for so many years. Of course even with the money we got she never stopped hitting or cutting me. My mom wanted to create a cover for me, a skin. I had to wear nice clothes with bright colors and throw out all of my dark ones. But I didn't, I hid them in the deepest parts of my closet and dresser. Eventually I'd move out and it would be great. My mom  still forced me to do these things over many years.

I dressed the way she wanted, acted the way she wanted. Because I was scared. I would never lay a hand on my mother without reason. But I never did because... she's my mom. I made a friend, her name is Madison. She knows about it but I don't let her say anything and she's always there for me. I came across Noah who is now my boyfriend. I want to like him, I really do but he's not for me. I can't just dump him though, because of my mom. He's a nice guy and I do care for him, he just did't know a thing about me. Madison didn't like him much but she still stuck with me. We've been dating for a few years but I'm sure his family hates me.

They look down on my families money status. If you call my mother my family, I learn to grow with them though. Noah never gave a shit what they would say and it drove me mad. He always had an excuse. His friend Liam didn't talk to me much. I was sure he hated me as well, I still was curious about him. He seemed to be like me, you know before my mother had me slap on a new layer of skin. He had memorizing tattoos. Not to many that he looked... stupid. But he nice, he kept his black hair the same, his green eyes never failed to pierce me.

Noah was a rich boy, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Spoiled, but Liam was a completely different person. Why would they be friends. Liam was usually around when they went to school or at dinners when I went. He never said a word, other than rude remarks. I knew my dinner with Noah's family was coming up and I wasn't the least bit excited. I got lectures every time, the same ones. Noah sat back with a blank face and took it like his mommy was grounding him. Noah doesn't show me any affection, kisses here and there.

The little things matter enough to me. If he would glance at me while he drives or hold my hand often. But he doesn't. I want to call Madi to get me ready for my dinner with his family of judges. I pull out my phone and click on her contact.

The phone rings twice before she answers, "What's up?"

"Alert, dinner." I say calmly.

"Coming, be there in five." She says then hangs up.

I sit on my bed and wait to hear the doorbell ring. Thank god my mom had extra hours tonight. Seven minutes later I hear the doorbell ring quietly downstairs. When I open the door I see my best friend in a blue dress smiling at me.

"Help." I say and she giggles.
