I lead her up stairs to my closet, she quickly get to work. She's got a good fashion sense, I should be fine. I sit on my bed as I watch her dig through my closet frantically moving things. She turns around with a black dress in her hands and a big smile.
"Yes!" She squeaks. I shake my head smiling.
I want to wear it so bad, but my mother would kill me. She frowns and sets it in my lap, I watch as she grabs a black pear of flats.
"It's you." She says.
I sigh as I examine the dress, the way the straps are thin and soft. The length is perfect and the color is more than perfect. I stand, dress in hand and walk toward to bathroom. I change quickly and look in the mirror admiring the way it looks. I hear a knock at the door and then it creaks open slowly.
"wow." She says smiling.
"I don't know." I lie.
"I do!" She screams, "You have to wear it tonight."
I give in and she cheers while jumping around. I slip on the black flats and I can't help but be obsessed with wearing my true colors. I hear a knock down stairs, shit it's seven. I look to Madi and she shrugs with a frown. I rush down stairs and open the door with Madi behind me.
"Hey babe." He smiles.
"Hi." I say blankly.
"You ready?" He asks.
"Yeah." I lie.
I quickly slip my phone into my dress pocket and walk to the car behind him. When I get in Madi stops at the window.
"Call me if a bomb goes off." she whispers playfully.
"Will do." I smile and salute her.
When I look over at Noah he's checking his hair in the mirror. I hate when he does that. I just wait for him to stop which takes a few minutes. When we get on the road it's a long and quiet journey to the hell hole that is his house. I turn on the radio and hum along to the song.
"Hey, can you stop?" He asks turning it down.
I can't believe him. I look out the window ignoring his unwelcome presence. When we pull into the gated drive way I notice a black mustang sitting ahead.
"Is... Liam here again?" I ask.
"Yeah, as always." He says, "Why? you don't like him?"
"I just don't think he likes me." I say shrugging.
He doesn't deny it leaving me almost one hundred percent sure he doesn't. I look at the big, white, five story house as we walk in. I see his mom and dad seated at the table as they smile at us. I know it's fake, Liam gives me a quick glance but then looks away. I sit in front of him and next to Noah. As they begin to eat I leave my plate empty in case I need to throw up. I know something was going to be said tonight.
"So, plans for after high school?" His mom asks.
"Well, thinking of college." I say looking into her eyes.
There was a desire behind them to insult me and I knew it.
"You can afford it?" She asks.
Noah and Liam shift uncomfortably in their chairs.
"Yes, actually I can." I say calmly.
"Oh, I just didn't think your mother-" Liam interrupts.
"Mary," He says.
Why would he even care? Well, it does happen every time.
She looks at him with wide eyes, "What? Just making conversation."
He rolls his eyes and continues to look at his empty plate. Why he didn't eat I don't understand.
"My mother won't be paying I will." I continue.
"Oh, how?" She asks smiling evilly.
I clench my fists and look at her then over at Liam who I notice is staring. He tilts his head down but keeps his eyes on me. I frown and then continue to hold in my anger, withholding it all I force a smile.
"My money." I say, "What about Noah now, would you like to hear his plans?"
I try to change the subject but Noah doesn't say a word leaving me in the danger zone.
"Let's continue what we started." She says. Continue what She started.
"How's your family anyways?" She continued
