Kaname's POV:

''Since the only thing she lives on, are animals.''

"What do you mean, she only lives on animals?" Kain inquired, perplexed, about having to struggle to breathe. ''She was a student from the Day Class; she turned out of nowhere into a vampire and refused to drink from me.'' I loosened the grip on his neck and let him talk freely. "So she ran away into the forest and now lives on animals?" I nodded and walked to my desk to look outside the window that sat beside it.

"If she turned out of nowhere, she has to be a human that turned because of a bite; she would've fallen to a level E after a day!" Kain stated, confused. "That's why I don't think she's just a human who turned into a vampire because she's been doing this for a week." "That's even difficult for a royal to do!" Kain continued, not believing what I had just said. "Kain, come to this window, please, and look outside," I said the moment I saw a glimpse of Y/N.

"Look at that tree, what do you see and smell?" Kain looked at me and focused on what I pointed out. "It's so vague; how does she do that?" ''She has been living in the wild for over a week; her scent is vague because of that.'' "How do you know she is there? It's barely noticeable." "She likes to show her dominance." I chuckled, knowing that that was exactly what she tried to do, show she didn't need me, show she was intelligent enough to figure her situation out on her own.

The moment I said that, you saw her head coming out of the tree leaves.

Y/N's POV:

I stretched out the moment I woke up and looked out of the tree to see if it was safe to go hunting. So I smelled my surroundings and went to the closest animal I knew was there. I spent the last few days looking for a permanent place to live and constructing a small room for myself. I found a big tree that was too high to climb for a human or a predator but small enough not to be seen by the Day Class, in case anyone looked outside the window.

The Night Class? I didn't care about them; if they saw a vampire sitting in a tree, they'd most likely ignore her or complain to Kaname or Headmaster Cross, both of whom knew it had to be me.

I sometimes see Kaname looking outside the window, or I feel his eyes on me, but I don't care. That way, he could see that I was strong enough to survive. Not that it wasn't hard, it was especially so when students roamed around the forest near my place of stay. So every time they were there, I ran far enough to be able to control myself but not so far that I would get lost.

I am very proud of my house. If you go into the leaves, you will see one big room divided into different floors by the branches. I have a bed made out of leaves, a wooden tub to clean my clothes, and a little mat. Why the mat? Well, while I was hunting, I sort of maybe found a dog, and I sort of took him with me; his name is Aki. He is a small golden retriever puppy who is suspected to have growth issues due to his size. I feed him food I steal from the academy kitchen; I only go there for him. I am very quiet and unnoticeable, so no one can see or hear me.

After my breakfast, which took around 5 minutes, I looked around, seeing Kaname and, I think, Kain, looking outside the window, right at me. My eyes begin to glow red, and I growl at them before I vanish inside a different tree, waiting for them to go away. It had been a week, I didn't understand how I could still be the talk of the day.

Kaname's POV:

"See?" I said to Kain, who looked shocked at what he saw. "How can she do that?" he asked, not understanding what was happening. I went to the couch, sat on it, and made myself comfortable. ''She can do that since she is strong, like I said.'' "That still doesn't explain how she has never drunk anything next to animal blood and is still sane," he said while walking towards me. I took a drink from the table and sipped it.

"Don't act like nothing is wrong, Lord Kaname!' You know damn well that this is a questionable situation because it can be dangerous!" he exclaimed. "Just because something is unknown doesn't mean it's dangerous, Kain," I replied emphatically. ''But that doesn't mean it's safe either!''

I am not scared that Y/N might do something stupid—well, she already did, but I understand it. I was and still am watching her to see if she is okay, and I smell around every hour to make sure she is not injured. I was going to let her do her thing for some time, but after a few days or weeks, I would get her to come here and make her feel safe, showing that you don't have to be on your own to survive and still be strong as an individual. I think it is time to get her here, for my fellow students and my family. before they freak out even more and finish her, I didn't feel like cleaning up such a mess.

Y/N's POV:

I was sitting on my bed, petting Aki, when I smelled someone getting near. I looked through the leaves and saw the one and only Kaname walk up to my tree. He better not get too close; it's my tree; he ain't getting it.

I knew he knew where I was and that hiding wouldn't matter anyway, so I jumped out of my house and sat on a lower branch with Aki on my lap. And as I guessed, he walked up to me but kept his distance, knowing that I didn't want him too close.

"Y/N, I'm glad that you're doing okay." He started making me sigh. "I am not going to drink your blood, Kaname; just stop; I am doing just fine." He nodded and sat down on the ground against a different tree. ''I know, but I still want you to come with me. You will get transferred to the Night Class and have an education where you can learn your special powers and how to control them, and you will have a comfortable bed." "I already have a comfortable bed and a nice house." He looked confused at me. "I spent a week living inside this tree with nothing to do, so I obviously made it my home."

Before he could say anything, I heard Day Class students laughing and screaming. I shot back up my tree and hid in there, Kaname following me while looking around fascinated. The sounds became louder and louder; they were getting closer. After a minute of listening and keeping quiet, I heard a guy scream, and not even a second later, the smell of blood filled the air. I normally flee when someone gets too close, but I didn't this time because of Kaname; it was the first time I had ever smelled blood that close, and it smelled so delicious that I just-

My eyes shot red, I began to growl, and my senses increased, ready to get my prey. In less than a second, I sat under the guy that fell, whose knee was open, and all the blood that was pouring out was laying around him, making it look way better than I thought. I jumped on him, but before I had a chance to touch him, I was thrown to the side from at least a mile away.

"Y/N, keep yourself together. I know it is hard, but keep it together." I didn't listen and tried to get out of his grip. I needed it; the smell was everywhere. Before I could even see what was happening, I blacked out.
