Delysha

It is almost eight-thirty and Mom has not arrived yet. Yes she goes to hospital late at night sometimes but never without dinner. It's tradition, Mom and I making dinner and talking about college and hospital. This is the only time of the day, I wait for.

I am watching a new Netflix series when someone knocks.
"Delysha, open the door. It's me," it's her. Mom, Bio Mom.

I walk towards the door but she never knocks. She has keys.
"Did you forgot the door keys?" I ask.

"Well, actually I guess. I lost them," she smiles.

"Mom, really?"

"...."

"Well let's cook. I am hungry," I command walking towards the kitchen counter.
Meanwhile she washes her hand then walks towards the counter. I am watching her face and waiting for the right time to apologise.

"How was your day, Delysha?"

"Good, clumsy. Actually I kinda missed you," I giggle.
To which she smiles.

"Intruding, but why?"
By this time the rice is cooked.

"Maybe because of our morning event...." I pause then "Mom, look I am sorry for whatever I said. I am just messed up, I guess..."
And before I could complete, I am already in her arms.

"It's okay, darling. I was been a galoot," she murmurs.

"I didn't tell him. I couldn't. I like him, Mom. You were right I guess that we are more than friends," I confessed.

"....."

"Mom, why ain't you saying!"

"Nothing, it's just a emotional momentum for me right now. You know, I always dreamed this. You in my arms."

"Mom, I guess I am starting to like you and him." I murmur and hug her tighter.
By that time fragrance of newly baked potatoes is in the air.

"The food is cooked. You sit and we will eat together," she announces.

This is it, I am telling Frank about everything. I want him. I need him.

Wednesday Morning,

I am getting ready for college when there's a knock on the door. I run out to open it expecting Frank. But it's the same pair of dark tranquil eyes from last evening. Again, staring at me like I am an outcast.

I immediately turn to avoid his ghosty face.

"Mom you have a visitor," my voice is loud and maybe a little irritated.

I walk towards the counter and feel like I am being watched. Like someone is looking at my ass, it's a ugly feeling which makes me look back and check out. And yes, he definitely is watching over me.
Creepy guy but before I can say something harsh or anything.
Frank is on the front door which eventually changes my mood.
I walk towards him in hurry like he is some hero saving my ass from this crappy guy.

"Wow, you were quick," Frank smiles, "Missed me I guess," he giggles.

'Yes alot' I want to say but instead I swipe my fingers stating "Of course not" making a feeble attempt at protesting.

By this time Mom is out of her room.
"Frank, how are you?"

"Good, Doctor Dang," he smirks at which she laughs by this time, the dark eyes is watching over me again and I feel like vomiting.

"Mom, I am getting late. Can you pass my backpack?" I ask.

"No take your stuff, yourself and you are not leaving my front porch without breakfast," she announces. "Come in and eat, I have to hurry."

"I am in the car," Frank says to which Mom doesn't responds. A very clear signal that she ain't comfortable with Frank.

"Come in Delysha," she orders and am walking in the house surpassing the dark eyed's cold stare. At this moment I really want to slap him, how can Mom allow such people in the house. I think, annoyed.

By the time I am in. Or should I say till the time I am in. Or since he arrived he hasn't said a single word, creepy man. But I guess Mom doesn't think likewise.

So, I go straight to my food and watch my mother leave with the zombie.
