a blast from the past...

Rey panted. Her legs in a dying need of rest. She had been jogging in the park for the past 45 minutes. She do not know why she did this. She woke up earlier than usual this morning, feeling freshed than before and wanted to challenge herself to jog for an hour.

And boy what a terrible idea that is. She can't even jog for 10 minutes without panting like crazy. This is what happened when you have low stamina and a lazy ass. She should have thought twice before cancelling her participation in the road run during her high school years. She would have been more fit than usual by now!

She stroded to the water supply in the park—gulping down the lukewarm water hungrily. She sighed heavily—satisfied with the refreshments. She looked around the park—noticing how only a few people were here considering how it's the weekend. Rey felt her stomach rumbled and decided to have a hearty breakfast at the nearby cafe. She strides to the cafe across the park, opens the door and breath in the fresh mint air.

She ordered a caramel iced machiato with glazed bagels, paying the food she waited for the barista to finish. At the moment, she looked around the shop. It has a homely feeling to it. The lights gives it a cheery vibe making it look lively. She noticed that many couples were here. Must have been fun to have someone. She has always been alone.

"Hello miss? Miss? Hey, you're holding the line here" she snapped out of her train of thought, looking to see the barista holding her food with an annoyed expression on her caked-up face. Rey apologize and took the food. Smiling politely at the people behind her before heading out. People looked at her strangely. Their minds wondering how can she be so unbothered.

Rey took a big bite of the large begal while walking along the pavement, noticing how crowded it is by now. It's nearly 9 and Rey thought she should be ready for work. She works as an intern in a publishing company, hoping one day she could publish her own book and make a name for herself. Mostly to make her father proud. She misses him a whole lot.

The last time she saw him was last Christmas—where they share a lovely homemade meal—made by herself, and a teary goodbye before she was off to New York. It has always been the two of them. Rey never knew who her mother was. She died shortly after she was born. Her father always tell her wonderful stories about her mother. The only possession she had is a thin diamond necklace with a petal charm in the middle with the wording : "my beautiful petal" in cursive writing. Rey hold dear of the necklace as if it was her whole life. How she wishes her mother was here but she knew that will never happen. The world doesn't revolve around like that.

Rey clutched the necklace tightly—feeling overwhelmed with the gift. She took a bite of her bagel to see her hand is empty. Rey looked around feeling dumbstruck until she found a German Shepard on the floor gobbling on a bagel. Her bagel. Rey stomped toward it.

"Hey! You can't do that. That is mine" Rey tried to approach it only to be awarded with a  low growl. Leaving the bagel, it approaches her—growling every movement as if ready to pounce on her. Scared, Rey took a step back but it follows her.

"Nice doggy" Rey cooed, trying to calm it down only for it to come more closer. "Sit! I said sit!" Rey paled when she saw it bearing it's teeth. The dog seems to be annoyed with her voice. It was ready to jump on her until..

"Okay Max that's enough!" A deep, masculine voice shouted nearby. The dog paused before striding to it's owner but not before glaring at her. The man patted it gently before looking at the woman who seems to be having a heart attack. Her legs were nearly bend to the ground, her face ashen and her hand was clutching tightly to her coffee or whatever was left.
