song: foolin' - def leppard

~

"YOU DIDN'T EVEN THINK to tell me you went home with the new kid?" robin and brooke walked side by side into the busy school building to head down the hall. she had heard a few rumors already spreading that her best friend had slept with billy after the party. "jeez birdy, it was nothing like that."

birdy was a nickname brooke made when they had first met in freshman year in gym class. obviously it referred to her name also being a type of bird.

once they reached her locker brooke opened the combination quickly and grabbed her books. robin was about to ask her about the fight when carol sauntered by them. her chin wasn't pointed up like it usually was, no brand new overpriced outfit her daddy bought her the weekend before. instead her head was covered by an oversized hoodie, baggy sweats and high top sneakers.

the bruises under her eyes from her nose injury weren't even hidden under all of the concealer she had caked on her face. her nose was wrapped in a gauze, splotchy and purple. hiding from the fact that she got her ass totally beat. everyone was surprised she even showed up to school today.

once she had passed the girls and turned to another hallway, it was safe to speak. "plus what's that shit? a little alcohol in your system, and your the female jackie chan?" robin was hysterical, throwing her arms up and looking at her friend like she had just won a grammy.

"more than a little, and those two were asking for it. i just finally gave it to them." she just shrugged, popping in a stick of gum from her jacket pocket and handing one to her friend. she didn't really know what else to say, the whole school already knew the events of friday.

"damn i should've been there. i would've joined." the girls broke in laughter because it was true. if robin wasn't binge watching miami vice she definitely would have helped her kick their asses. she hated them as much as brooke.

"brooke! hey listen-" it was jonathan, shouting across the hall and sprinting to catch up with her. the boy looked like he ran a 5k looking for her, hair in a mess and even perspiring a little. "johnny, it's fine." brooke placed a hand on his shoulder as he tried to catch his breath.

"i'm not mad you left without me at the party. look i'm here in one piece." she held out her arms dramatically showing she was in fact still alive.

"i know but if i was with you, that would've never happened and-"

"jonathan!" she had to stop him again from his awful rambling. "i said it's cool." she smirked at him, elbowing him a nudge in the ribs which only made his worries go away.
