Seventeen: Unexpected Family

Minghaos POV-

the next day at school, word went around everywhere. Seokmin was dead, Seokmin killed himself, Seokmin this and that. It was a rough day. Chan and I had to keep reassuring Wonwoo that Seokmin was ok and that all of his friends were ok. Even after what happened wonwoo still cared deeply for his old friends.

That day, none of them showed up. Jeonghan, Mingyu, Seokmin, Soonyoung and Jun.

Mingyu

Is he ok? what if he is not?

my mind wouldn't stop wondering. Even in my second-period block, I noticed Joshua and Seungcheol weren't present. I knew Joshua was good friends with Jeonghan, but Seungcheol too?

As Chan, Wonwoo, and I sat down for lunch, I couldn't help but feel different. Today, there wasn't a clumsy jun getting caught staring at Wonwoo. There wasn't a loud duo  making the cafeteria laugh. There wasn't a bright and happy mingyu watching his friends mess around with the brightest shine in his eyes. It felt wrong. Even if I wasn't friends with those people, they still affected my life like this? so easily.

I glanced over and noticed Wonwoo wasn't eating anything. Chan looked just as concerned for the older boy but decided not to say anything. The mood at our table was something it had never been before.

For some reason, the universe had chosen the wrong time, for Wonwoo's new friend to show up all happy.
"Hey, Guys!"
Seonghwa plopped himself down next to Wonwoo and wrapped his arm over his shoulder. Wonwoo gave him a small smile before going back to whatever he was thinking about.

Chan looked as if he was over Seonghwa, and was about to say something until his mouth dropped into an "O" shape. Curious I looked behind the two sitting in front of me and looked into what Chan was so surprised about.

Joshua, Soonyoung, Mingyu, and Jun had made their way into the cafeteria. I thought they weren't here today. However, the aura coming from the group was too much to handle. everyone in the cafeteria had noticed them and everyone went quiet. the group stopped and finally noticed all attention was on them. every single one of them had Dull eyes, Red and bloodshot, their hair was messed up, and they looked paler than a ghost. My heart sank when my eyes landed on mingyu. Him looking the complete opposite of how he should, sleep deprived and out of energy.

I suddenly noticed the group had many backpacks with them, and I came to the conclusion that they were getting everyone's homework and making their way back to the hospital. I noticed Joshua whisper something to Soonyoung, the two immediately began searching the cafeteria. when they found who or what they were looking for, they dropped everything they were holding and started making their way to the table.

Even Mingyu and Jun looked confused. glancing at each other before realizing where they were headed.

Mark

The kid was foreign and no one really knew his last name. He was mean, he bullied anyone he could get a hold of, and the situation seemed clear to me, Mark was the reason Seokmin is the hospital. I jolted out of my seat without even realizing it, running up to Jun and Mingyu. I had talked to jun before, but he was closer to mingyu than I had ever been in my life.
"u-Uhm, i-i'll help with this w-while you go get Joshua and Soonyoung" I manage to spit out  words but my heart was going 100 mph. Mingyu looked confusingly at Minghao but nodded his head. Mingyu dropped what he had and raced to aid his friends, who were now in a heated argument with the bully. I reached down and picked up two backpacks.
"I'll help you!"
Dino made his way over to me and picked up a backpack Soonyoung had ditched.
"thank you guys, seriously"
Jun had smiled at the two, but you could tell he was weak mentally and physically.

"Hey! you think it's funny to mess with people huh?!"
Soonyoung's loud voice boomed across the cafeteria.
"shut up Soonyoung, don't get your panties in a twist because your boyfriend is too weak to stand up to me"
Mark laughed, and even from the backside, you could see anger fuming from Soonyoung. He had raised his fist and was about to probably pummel Mark, but before he could, the long slender build of Joshua had beat him to it.

Joshua nailed Mark right in the face, causing him to fall backward as Joshua jumped on him, beating and punching him endlessly.
"you think it's funny?!"
"like it's some sick joke?!!"
Marks' buddies had tried to pry Joshua off but failed as Soonyoung and Mingyu began beating them into a pulp. The three had pummeled mark and his friends, and it was a refreshing sight.

Soonyoung was about to throw one more punch at a probably unconscious kid before a small hand grabbed his wrist and used his full force to prevent the swing,
"Soonyoung please stop"
soonyoung still angry jolted his head to the person, but suddenly softened when Jihoon stood there with tears brimming in his eyes. Soonyoung let the kid in his grasp go, as Jihoon gently dragged him away.
Joshua had finally stopped when he heard his friend Vernon yell his name across the cafe. Joshua was still mad and pushed mark one last time before heading back toward his friends. Mingyu right behind him. Mingyu seemed proud of himself, and even Minghao had started to respect him some more.

Jun had glanced to his left, a terrible decision. He made direct eye contact with Wonwoo. Usually, this wasn't that bad of a problem, but considering Junhui looked like death, and Park Seonghwa held a tight grip and sly smirk on Wonwoo pissed off jun so much that he started to tear up. Wonwoo seemed to try to say something, but nothing came out.

Mingyu and Joshua and Soonyoung had finally made their way back to Jun, Dino and I. Picking up their bags, and just like that left the cafeteria kids in shock and screaming for teachers as mark still lay there probably dead. Dino and I cautiously followed the friend group with the bags they had picked up to help.

" wait up!"
the group finally had the hospital in sight when a voice made them turn around.

Wonwoo had been sprinting to keep up. and finally did.
"I wanna help"
"no"
Jun quickly answered and turned back towards the hospital, already continuing down his path. The rest of the boys were not in shape in any way to argue and followed jun. Dino and I gave Wonwoo a sympathetic look, and we followed behind as they finally reached the hospital.
