We rode down a long path that led to the small forest in our neighborhood. Many kids played around the forest, but nobody really went deeper than that.

I was still a bit upset about Sarah, but didn't mention about that at all to Ryan. He probably didn't even notice my feelings.

"There's a stream nearby, we'll stop there." He said, riding deeper into the forest. I agreed, starting to hear distant river streams. "Are we close?" I asked. Ryan nodded, finally spotting the stream. He stopped the bike near a tree and helped me down.

I sat down near the river, grabbing some rocks to skip. Ryan sat next to me, watching the small fish.

I skipped the rocks, scaring the fish away. "Hey, you scared them." Ryan laughed. "Pfft."
We both giggled, having a good time. "Brook." I turned, looking at him. "Yes?" "You seemed upset this morning, you ok?" "Uh- Yeah."

Oh no, he thinks a fool of me, doesn't he?

Ryan sighed. "I want to say sorry about everything, I really didn't notice how bad of a friend I was being."

           Yeah, Friends.

I shrugged it off. "It's fine." But tears came down my face as I realized what I truly felt about Ryan. "I just- im sorry.." I cried.
Before I knew it, Ryan was holding me close, hugging me tight.

This made me cry even more. Being loved by someone other than my father felt odd. My mother divorced my dad years ago. Was I being loved?

I wouldn't ever expect on what would happen next.. Ryan put his hand on my cheek, then moved his lips towards mine. He kissed me. I pulled away. "Oh- im Sorry!" Ryan would burst. But I went forward, kissing him again.

This kiss was longer, he held on to my waist as I put my hand behind his head. "I really like you, Brooklyn." He said, pulling away as he wiped more of my tears. "I like you too."

We kissed in the forest, forgetting about our problems, forgetting about Sarah, about school, about everything. I really loved him.

          Sarah was a bitch anyways.

I knew the true him. And know I know he likes me back. Butterflies filled my stomach as we kissed. We fell over as I toppled over him. We both laughed, cuddling each other. Letting ourselves embrace each other.

   7:15PM

He dropped me off at home as I gave him one last kiss on the cheek. I had no idea what he was going to do with Sarah. But he embraced me differently than what he did with Sarah. This felt real, and it was.

I walked inside my home, my father at the door. "Where were you?" He asked. "Oh, dad I was with a friend-" "A friend, yeah. Why were you so late?" "We were- ... hanging out."

My father nodded. "Don't be so late next time, young lady." He kept it clear.

The next day at school, I dressed up very neatly. Brushed my hair in a middle part, and put on some lipgloss. For breakfast I had toast and eggs. Nothing too surprising, it was that simple. At my door, I found Ryan waiting for me. He wore a hoodie and some sweats.

"Hey Ryan!" I smiled, getting on the bike.
Ryan rode down the streets to the high school, like usual. "Brook?" He asked. "What?" "Well we kissed last night.. what does that make us?"

I thought I wasn't really sure what we were.

"I dumped Sarah last night." Ryan spoke. I laughed. "Then we can be whatever you want us to be."

"Do you want to be my girlfriend, Brook?"

I smiled wide, hugging him tighter as I held on. "Yes!"

Later that day, lunchtime, I saw Sarah sit at another table. She seemed upset, peering at me all the time while I sat by Ryan. What was her deal? I actually liked Ryan, except her.

Ryan would be coming to my house on the weekends to help with a project. We were partners, of course. He had other friends he could have chose, but I'm his girlfriend.

It was Thursday. Everything was going so perfectly. Me and Ryan hugged each other all day.

I love him so fucking much.

I went to sleep that night feeling refreshed. A much better day in Texas. No more bitchy Sarah!
