My father sat on the couch, watching some World War One series. I dropped off my bag at the door, then walked upstairs with my homework. Over the two last weeks of summer, the moving truck arrived and brought our stuff, so we finally had a real home.. at least it was good enough.
I plopped down on my bed, my soft white sheets comforting me. All I really wanted to do was call my friends, and finish my homework. A buzzing came from underneath me. Great timing, I thought as I grabbed my phone from under myself, answering the call that my friend from Florida made.
"Hey Brooklyn!" My friend greeted. "How's your new house?" I sighed, looking at my homework. "It's okay, I guess." My friend frowned, close to the screen. "Well, any new friends?" "Only one." The thought of Ryan came in my mind. "Who?" My friend asked loudly, almost as if she were excited for me."This one guy-" "GUY??" She interrupted. "Yes, this guy named Ryan." I rolled my eyes as I grabbed a hair tie, styling my hair in a bun.
My friend smiled, starting to tease me about me liking Ryan. "Anna, I DONT like him, ok?? I JUST met him!" I cleared. This was embarrassing. "Fine, fine. You just don't usually have guy friends so..- my mom's calling me for dinner, Brook." She stated. "Oh, well.. bye." We waved to each other on call, then, Anna hung up.
I came to that school on a Friday, so I went to bed that night knowing that I didn't have to attend school the next morning.
I woke up 7AM in the morning, putting on some black shorts and a white tee. Also washing my face and brushing the tangles out of my hair. I walked downstairs and grabbed only an apple to sooth my morning hunger.
My father slept in, because yesterday he unpacked some boxes we didn't over the summer. So, he was super tired. I walked outside, some cold wind hitting my face..
I fucked up. It was COLD today. I soon went inside again, putting on a soft white hoodie and
sweatpants. Hopping on my bike, I made my way to the street, and came along a long, tall hill. This should be fun to ride down, I thought.
I gripped the handlebars right as I rode down the steep hill. My long, sleek hair blew behind me as my bike became faster. My heart started to race when my breaks wouldn't work. The end of the steep hill had a turn, but I needed a quick turn to make it.As soon as I reached the end of the hill, I took a sharp turn. Unfortunately, I flew to the side, hitting the pavement, hard.
