Okay. What the hell did I just listen to? And then Daikoku slid a five-yen coin over to me. I picked it up in my hand and inspected the object. What the hell was I supposed to do with this?
"Yati will explain everything." Kofuku told me.
"I don't know about you, but did you see how Yato acted around her. I don't think he will." Yukine told her. A pang of my heart at the mention of Yato. Another pang of just thinking about him.
"That's why we gave her a five-yen coin." Daikoku explained.
Hiyori and Yukine's mouths moved in simultaneous fashion to form the word oh. I sweatdrop at them. Both Hiyori and Yukine and Kofuku and Daikoku. I have to pay him a five-yen coin in order to get the amswers I need.
"So, where would I find Yato?" I asked him. A pang. Man, this is weird.
"In there. He's been sulking ever since last night when you came over." Yukine pointed into a room.
My make-shift room when I slept over. Oh no. I took the coin in my hand and took hold of my cat in my free arm and walked into the room. The cat meowed before finding a spot on my shoulder.
"Meow!" Izuku flew off my shoulder and onto the God's shoulder.
"Hi, Oikeíos." The sulking war god said scratching my cat's chin who purred at the action. Wait. What did he just call my cat? "I suspect since you're here, she is also."
I didn't like how he said she. It made my hair stick on end. Like a reaction to an uneasy feeling. An unknown uneasy feeling that was also known. He was a war god after all. But no matter how uneasy I feel, I have to get my answers.
"If you're talking about me, then, yes he is here with me." I told him. He turned to look at me before scoffing and going back to petting the cat. My cat. I ended up throwing the coin at his head and it hit with a thunp. "I WANT ANSWERS, DUMBASS! AND IF YOU COULD STOP BEING A SULKING ASS BITCH AND GIVE ME BACK MY CAT IN THE PROCESS THAT WOULD BE GREAT, YOU FUCKTARD! NOW HAND OVER THE CAT BEFORE YOU LOSE AN EYE!"
I didn't care if they could hear my screaming from outside. At the moment, I didn't care that they could hear my screaming from across the pond. I just wanted the answers that I've been craving for ages now. And my encylopedia/google is right in front of me to get me my answers. Hopefully it doesn't send me down the wrong path to the wrong place like Google Maps did once. Yato sighed before picking up the five-yen coin that had fallen onto the ground before me.
"Your wish? Is it to get answers?" asked Yato looking at the coin.
I stared at him before finding a strand of lose hair and fiddling it within my hands. I decided to ignore the weird look Yato was giving me. "I guess it is. I only ask because Kofuku won't tell me even though I know she knows. She just keeps saying you're the one that should tell me."
Yato grumbled out a "you sneaky little-." He sighed. "Alright. If you want to know, jusy sit down. This might take a while. But can I still pet Oikeíos while I tell you?"
I frowned when he called Izuku Oikeíos. Why did he keep calling him thag name? "His name is Izuku. Not Oikeíos."
He pursed his lips at the thought. "Izuku huh? You like anime in this life? Hmm. I guess it's to be expected. The last one was called Keith from Voltron so eh."
"Why do you call him Oikeíos?" I asked him.
"Because that's his name. He's your familiar. And technically Oikeíos is his species name just like you're a lethe. They're intertwined." Yato explained.
"Are you going to explain the Lethe thing to me or do I have to sit here and be confused for the rest of eternity?" I asked him.
He chuckled out a, "Still a weird sense of humor." That wasn't funny at all.
But then he went to explain everything. Apparently a Lethe is a species of immortal after gods that acts as a mortal. And when the mortal body dies, the spirit is reborn with same name, same look, same persona, memories in the form of dreams. Kind of like a reboot of the Good Place, but with living people. And as he finished explaining what I am, I asked him questions about what we were (which caused him to blush) before he explained it to me. And as he explained it to me more and more, waves of memories I've never seen flooded into my mind and I let out a scream before all I could see was black and Yato calling my name and catching me in my arms.
Eventually, when I did come to, I was surrounded by just Yato and Izuku. I guessed no one heard my scream, they didn't care, or Yato ushered them away before I could wake up. Technically, the whole surrounded thing was false. I was laying in his lap with Izuku laying curled up on my chest. Yato was looking through my smartphone while petting the cat. I gripped his wrist in my hand.
"Ah, I see you're awake." Yato never turned away from my phone.
I snatched my phone from him and sat up to sit beside him. I grumbled as I saw he was scrolling through my Wattpad.
"You know for someone so innocent, you sure read alot of smutty and erotic fanfiction and originals." A blush appeared on my face at his comment.
"Why were you looking through my phone anyway?" I asked him.
"I wanted to see whether or not certain traits of your past personality lined up with the current you." Yato told me. "You know if you want you can just lay your head on my shoulder."
I blinked at his bold suggestion, but nonetheless I laid my head on his shoulder. Yato didn't seemed phased by it. Not one bit. Instead, he just laid his head on top of mine.
"Where's everyone else?" I asked him out of the blue.
"Still in the den I suppose. I suppose it was Kofuku's idea for the two of us to be in here alone." He told me to which I replied with a "Hmm?" He chuckled at that. "Seeing as the two of us have history together, I guess she wanted us to have some alone time to figure it out I guess."
My phone rang in my hands to the tune of The Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Opening of Again by Yui. My dad was calling me. I lifted my head from Yato's shoulder prompting him to lift his own head from mine.
"Hi, Papa." I said into my phone.
"How's my darling doing?"
"I'm fine. Just peachy." As an instinct I started to scratch my arm in my nervous state.
"Well, the anniversary is next weekend, so I made some arrangements. Your mom and [sibling] are staying with you for the next couple of weeks." a couple of weeks with mom and company? "Darling, what's wrong? You seem...distracted."
"Nothing's wrong, papa. Exams are coming up is all." The scratching intensified on my arm before Yato grabbed my wrist and slipped his fingers into mine. The feeling, to my surprise, calmed me down.
"Alright, darling. I love you." Then why do you stay away?
"Love you too, papa." I said before he hung up on me.
"Was that your dad?" Yato asked me.
I nodded. "Yeah. He's not around a lot, but when he is, he's a worry wart. Actually he's like that when he isn't around."
"You didn't tell him you knew." Yato mused.
"Because I didn't want Hades to know. You said he wanted to take the throne from papa and the only way was to kill me." I explained.
Yato shrugged at me before laying his head on my shoulder and wrapping an arm around my waist. "You staying the night or..."
"I think I have to go home." I told him.
"Why?" He asked me.
I didn't want him to know. Who knows what my Yato would do? My Yato? Where the hell did that come from?
"My step-mom wouldn't approve of me spending the night at a friend's house during the week. Much less a male's bed. Not that I was assuming anything! Of the sleeping arrangements that is." I told him.
Yato burst out into a melodious laughter. It was different. It was Yato. "You're still cute you know."
I grumbled before standing uo and stretching. "I'll be back tomorrow. Come on, Izuku." And with that I left with the cat trailing behind me.
