I cannot sleep. The one night in forever my stepmother isn't here, and I am stuck awake. I grabbed my phone and dialed Hiyori's number. She probably won't pick up (BECAUSE IT IS 2 IN THE FRICKIN MORNING).

"Delivery God Yato speaking. All I ask is a five yen coin." Uh... He's a dork.

"Yato, it's [Y/N]." I sat up in my bed.

"[N/N]-Chan! What brings you to call?" But he's my dork.

"Never call me that again. Why do you have Hiyori's phone? Did you sneak into her house?" I asked him.

"No!" Yato denied. "She stayed the night at Kofuku's place." Makes sense. "So, why you calling at such a late hour?"

"I...uh... can't sleep." Was I supposed to tell him that?

"I'll be right there, my love." Wait. No. That's not what I want. Okay maybe a little.

The dull tones of the phone being hung up filled my ears and I placed the piece of technology on my nightstand before laying down in my bed. I only had to wait a few moments before I felt warm arms surround my figure from my left. I could tell it was Yato. Based on his scent. His smell. A thousand years and he's always smelled the same. A small meow entered my ears as the bed dipped lowly because of the almost green colored fur of my cat jumping into the bed and going to paw at my... uh... lover's face. What were we actually? Boyfriend and Girlfriend? Lovers? Friends with...not even close to that.

"I'm sure cuddles will help you fall asleep faster." Yato told me as he snuggled his face into my neck. He's such a baby for being thousands of years old.

"Maybe. But I don't normally sleep a lot. I'm constantly on edge around here." Because of my stepmother.

"Well you don't have to be. I'm here now. So, sleep, my angel." he whispered into my neck.

"Thank you, Yato." I whispered back.

My cat curled up on my chest and did the weird circle that cats do before laying down in a ball almost and went to sleep. It wasn't two minutes later that the faint sound of kitty snores engulfed us.

"Broccoli cat has the right idea." Yato told me, his arms bringing me closer to him. "Sleep, my love. I'll protect you."

I had no alarm for school in the morning (Mandatory Teacher In-Service Training), so it didn't matter if I woke up in the morning or in the afternoon. But I also don't want to stay here in my insomniac state just staring at the ceiling as my two boys (one being a feline) slept beside me. I...

"Yato," I could tell he was staring at me with his blue, cerulean eyes, "thank you. For coming to stay the night."

"I'll always be here when you need me, love. Because I'm never letting you leave me ever again. I'll make you a god if it's the last thing I do. I just want to be with you forever." I just want to be with you forever. So please. Don't go and die or kill yourself before then okay.

"Yato... the dreams. Will I still have them? The ones about the past mes dying?" To protect you.

"You never had those dreams in the past after your memories were restored." Yato told me. "So, I don't see why this you will be any different."

I nodded. The male brought me closer into his chest and hummed softly against me. I finally feel safe. In his arms, I feel safe. I had no idea how long he was humming to me, but I know he stopped eventually. I just couldn't fathom whether it was he fell asleep or I did. When I woke up the next morning (or whatever time it was), Yato was missing. And the cat had moved to where the god had been before. I knew it. It was a dream. A really good dream.
