I think I like Ezzio. I'm even convinced it's more than that.
After what happened at the gazebo, I spent another sleepless night at home. Hindi ako makapaniwala sa nararamdaman. Now that I was aware of my own feelings, for some reason, it felt wrong. Pakiramdam ko, mali 'to. It wasn't supposed to be this way, anyway. At higit sa lahat, takot. Natatakot ako.
"How was the game?" tanong ni Venny kinabukasan.
The question made me feel uneasy. I realized, anything that reminds me of Ezzio seem to make me feel just that. I pursed my lips and nodded.
"Ayos naman. Panalo si King," maikling sagot ko. I didn't want to elaborate. She grinned.
"I heard it finished early. She gave me a meaningful look. "Saan kayo pumunta ni Papi Z pagkatapos? Ha? Anong ginawa niyo?"
I could feel my cheeks heat up.
Right. We almost kissed last night.
"Aha!" she exclaimed when I didn't answer. "Sinasabi ko na nga ba!"
I frowned at her, annoyed. "Ven, pwede ba?"
I said the words with a hint of warning but she didn't seem to mind. "So, ano? Are the rumo rs true? Magaling ba talaga humalik si-"
"Venny!
I glanced at Mico's way and saw him meet my gaze with a blank stare. Mas lalo lang uminit ang pisngi ko. Isn't he too young to hear things like this? Unless... he's done it himself?
Ugh!
"What?" I heard Venny ask innocently. Tiningnan ko lang siya ng masama. As if on cue, Mommy arrived and joined us.
"What am I missing?"
The three of us exchanged glances. Mommy probably realized it so she changed the topic.
Huminga siya ng malalim.
"I'm starting to plan my next trip."
Agad kaming napatingin sa kanya. She said it casually, like the usual. Kaya naman hindi na kami gaanong nagulat.
"Saan po, Mom?" Venny asked.
"I'm thinking, maybe... Iceland? I want to go somewhere cold," aniya bago tumawa. I couldn't help but feel like it was just an excuse.
"You're really not going back to Hawaii?" tanong ko nang hindi na mapigilan. Alright. I guess I touched a sensitive topic.
She turned her attention to her food and answered without looking at me.
"No. Why would I go back there?" Medyo natatawa pa niyang sabi. My siblings must've thought it was nothing, dahil wala naman silang kaalam-alam tungkol sa mga nangyari roon. I didn't get her the first time she told me all about it. But now I understood it perfectly, because apparently, I was also going through the same thing. With Ezzio.
