Alex's POV

It's time for the annual Christmas Eve Ox-Edwards dog walk, except this year there's a slight twist. I'm still not really walking properly, essentially leaning on Perrie, and Mads is on crutches but other than that we're all good. Oh and this year we haven't got lost, which I believe is a first. It's bitterly cold and my girlfriend, already worried by the state of my ankle, has made me wear the thickest coat I've got but has forgotten that she was also going to get cold. I can feel her shivering and so give her my coat, with no option to decline though she did try. Due to the inability of just about every girl in this family being incapable of wearing a coat that actually does its job we cut our walk short and go home.

It's 11pm and the parents have gone to bed, leaving us five, telling embarrassing Christmas stories of the years before. If looks could kill, Mads definitely would have killed me after telling the 2011 story. Soon after, it's time for bed, Perrie's about to fall asleep and if I'm not careful, so am I. I walk about the bathroom to see her waiting for me and I look across at the time. "Merry Christmas bub" before placing a short kiss on her lips. "Merry Christmas, my love" she replies and we both fall into a deep slumber.

Perrie's POV

I wake up snuggled into the side of my boyfriend, his arm wrapped protectively around my torso as his eyes flutter open at the movement of me. We lie there for minutes more, not saying anything, just listening to one another's breathing, it's comforting. I'm snapped out of my daze as a kiss is pressed onto my forehead, then one on my cheek and finally my lips. I smile at his actions, small but meaningful, nonetheless. He takes my hand and drags me out of bed, laughing at my groans at the withdrawal of the duvet from my body.

"Come onnnnn" he whines like a child "I want breakfast" I don't hesitate to point out to him that it's 11am and there is no longer any point in us having breakfast. "Fine then, I'm having a shower, care to join me?" he asks with a smirk, one that he knows I can't say no, nor do I want to.

After a very steamy shower, he wraps a towel around me and places another kiss on my cheek, I'm living for the affectionate side of my boyfriend even if it is only an apology for the state of my neck and chest right now. "I wasn't planning on wearing makeup today" I glare at him, he raises a solitary eyebrow and laughs. "Got to mark my territory" he replies, "what against your own family and mine" I counteract and start my attempts to cover my neck. At least I've learnt from last year's antics and I can actually cover them properly this time.

Several hours after we've woken up we're finally downstairs with the rest of the family. I'm meant to be cooking the turkey and if I don't get my arse in gear we won't be eating until 7pm. I get out of Alex's embrace and venture into the kitchen where my mum and Wendy laugh at me.

"Nice of you to join us" my mum says as I walk over to the kitchen island. I roll my eyes at her, "Merry Christmas to you too mam" I reply before giving both of them a hug.

Alex's POV

"Present time!" the girls shout as they walk back into the front room, interrupting our chat about the boxing day fixtures and our opinion on the whole festive period of football. Pez finds her way back, embedded into my arm and smiles, "what?" I question, "nothing just really happy" she replies before jumping up and sitting on the floor to open presents, patting the space next to her as a gesture for me to join her. As ever, mum's divided all of our presents into piles, surprisingly of relatively equal piles apart from Debbie who's present is currently on the drive and we really need to give it to her before she either spots it or Perrie tells her. We all look at each other and I excuse myself to get up so that I can get it all ready and everyone else can blindfold Debbie so doesn't know what's happening.

My mum and Perrie lead Debbie outside and take the blindfold off her as I hand her the keys. Bless, she was so excited as was my own mother, potentially more excited than when I bought her, her own dream car a few years before. Still it was nice to see them so happy for each other but it was cold and so we all went back inside to open the rest of our presents. Me, Pez and Christian watch tentatively as Mads opens her main present "fuck off" she whispers as she reads the letter three hundred times over. I've listened to her over the years, and when she's told me every day for about the last four years that she wants to go to Tokyo, I did pay attention, alarming as it may seem. The Oxlade-Chamberlain's were about to take over Tokyo, the same way they did New York two years prior. Christian opened his golf clubs and as I pointed out to him, he still wouldn't beat me despite the price of them. "And now for this years instalment of what Cartier jewellery has Alex got Perrie this year" Mads says before Pez opens her presents from me. We both laugh as she opens the bracelet and the ring, predictable maybe, but necessary definitely. My final present is technically last minute and may well cause a large panic, but she should like it. I'm daydreaming as she hits me "my second favourite place on earth" she whispers, I didn't actually know this but I'll take the credit anyway. "But I haven't packed and I definitely don't have enough time to pack" she frets "don't worry about that, I've done it for you" I reply, a smile finding a way onto my lips. She snuggles into my side and then insists I open my presents. I've been told about three thousand times by Mads that I'm the hardest person on this planet to buy for because 'it's impossible to buy for someone who's got everything' so I do feel for my family. I've got the usual and one final present to open, it's a large cardboard box which I obviously then look inside. Inside I've got new DJ decks, a new drumkit and a new guitar. To say I was happy would be an understatement, I've been moaning about mine for months, I've genuinely got the best girlfriend in the world.

Perrie's POV

We have dinner, which was outstanding, if I do say so myself and me and Alex are now laid on the sofa, threatening to both fall asleep, which we both do. Following this, we play a number of board games that should be banned in this house because we're all far too competitive and they'll produce the end of this family. We call it a day at midnight because Alex has got to be up early for training before our flight tomorrow.
