Chapter 9

Amaan

I walk towards the kitchen contemplating the many ways she can kill me in mere seconds, feeling sorry for the wife I don't have. As I enter, I see her pouring some milk into some hot drinks.

"Tea?" She asks. What, she wants to have tea with me? I look at her, when she doesn't get a reply she raises her left brow, waiting for an answer. "Erm, I don't really like tea." I say slowly moving towards the counter where she is at.

"Trust me, you're going to lurrrve this one" She says and motions me to sit. Something sparkling in her eyes. That makes me uncomfortable, or horny?

Trying to difuse my situation I start talking. "So about before, I.." She cuts me off. "Don't worry about it, its your job, right? To get comfortable with me, know me, waghaira waghaira (etc. etc.)" She says sipping her tea and smiles at me. "Erm, right" I reply.

I have a funny feel about where this conversation is going. I've been finding it hard to read this girl ever since I laid eyes on her and today is no exception. "Since you want to stick around, I think we should get to know each other, you know each other's tastes, likes and dislikes. Drink up, its getting cold" She says, motioning to the cup in front of me, with her eyes.

"Thank you" I say picking up the cup and sipping it regretting what happens next. The tea is hot. Pipping hot. No not because its tea hot, but because its spicy. Not any type of spicy but its even spicier than Nando's 'extra spicy'. I cant really spit it out so I gulp it down. "Whaaa" I'm about to lash out at her when Umer walks in. "Why wasn't I invited to this tea party?" He asks fake hurting. He picks up Laylah's cup of tea and takes a sip. "That's good tea!" He says looking at me. I cough.

She looks at me with some sort of amusement in her eyes. I can't seem to put my finger on it but it seems like mischief or success. "Do you think its good tea?" She asks me with a smile. Umer looks at me questioningly. "Er yea, its good tea" I reply. "Well you should consider yourself lucky, Laylah hardly makes tea for anyone." He says picking the cup up. "I'm going to get ready for bed, you should head home too" He continues to look at me. "Yea, you're right." I say standing up. "Wait, you need to finish your tea" Laylah says smiling at me, daring me to drink the rest. "I'll see you tomorrow" Umer says walking out the room.

So, she wants to play like this. We have a slight eye fight, where she is daring me to do something. Princess, you've just made this so much more interesting. I pick up the cup and drink all the tea in one go, keeping eye contact with her.

"Will that be all Miss Mansha?" I ask putting the cup down and folding my arms looking at her, my mouth is on fire, but it can wait. She can't . She glares at me. Oh, she looks sexy, when she is angry. I try not to smile and continue to stare her down. "For now", she says and walks out of the kitchen.

I quickly grab a glass of water and gulp it down. Shit. I walk out of the kitchen and into the courtyard. I didn't realise I was sweating this much. I start my car. My thoughts going wild. Maybe I should quit. No that's what she wants you doofus, I think to myself. I didn't take you for a quitter Amaan I thought to myself sighing I park the car and get out. I need a shower and my bed.

I get in the shower and let the water hit my body. I feel like I've had a hard day of labour and haven't eaten anything. As I think back to the incident in Laylah's room a smile creeps onto my face. The way my body reacted when she was so close to me, the way her hands felt in my hands. Involuntarily I look at my hands and my smile grows bigger. Her eyes, so curious and enchanting. I pick up the shampoo and start washing my hair. My thoughts still on Laylah. The way she looked at me after I sipped the tea. I let out a chuckle, that girl was something else.
