Chapter 33

Amaan

"Zaviyar! Have you gone mad"? Umer yells out towards him. If looks could kill Zaviyar would be dead by now. "I had a very thorough conversation with you about..." He stops and looks around. "Guys would you give us some privacy, I need to just talk with Zaviyar and Laylah, if that's okay" Umer continues and walks inside, holding Laylah's hand.

"Baap re, yeh kya theatre laga Zaviyar ne" Haider says looking at me. "OMG, I called him out, I said he was psycho and he is" Zara says sitting down on the chair opposite me. "What is wrong with him, he had never acted out like this before" Sophia says concerned. "Guys, just leave the poor guy alone, maybe he has started to like her, he has a lot on his plate already." Yusuf says looking at them all. "What do you mean a lot on his plate" I speak for the first time, since Laylah left with her brother. Hopefully Umer will not stand for this stupid decision. "I mean, he said he was having a rough time with his finances back in the states and his girlfriend had left him, poor guy" Yusuf looks at me.

I look towards Haider who is already looking at me with a look that says, 'something isn't right'. "What, what is it, I know that look, bolo ab" Yusuf says quickly. I'm not sure if I should be these guys are my friends but also Laylah's too.

I tell them everything that has happened so far leaving out no detail. "No Shit!" They all say in unison. "Why haven't you told Umer?" "Let's Tell Laylah" They all start shouting over each other. "Everyone listen!" I speak out with authority. "We wont tell anyone unless we have proof. I know Umer considers some of you family and some of you friends, but Zaviyar is related by blood, so we need to be careful, as to how we do this. We need to keep out eyes and more importantly our ears open. You hear anything Zaviyar says, I want it recorded, pictures anything." I say looking towards each of them.

Yusuf and Sophia leave for home, leaving me with Haider and Zara. "I'll drop you off, a little romantic drive with Aashiqui 2 songs playing in the background. I'll even buy you ice cream" Haider says to Zara, winking at her. "No thank you" She replies monotonously. "Your loss" Haider says and comes and sits next to me.

"Don't worry, Laylah isn't stupid, and she definitely doesn't like him. We will find out what he wants and when we do, we'll sort him out. Nobody looks at my Bhabhi like that." He says and hugs me. I hug him back. That 'Bhabhi' comment made me smile.

"Aww you guys are cute." Zara says looking between both of us. "I am pretty charming; come you want a hug too" Haidi says and stands up. "Haider! Stop it! Beghairat" I pull him back down to sit next to me.

I really want to know what Umer is saying to Zaviyar, I really do hope he asks him to leave. Tonight, has me worried about what the future might hold. Umer knows Zaviyar well, what if he agrees to their wedding. Would he even if Laylah would say no? I sign in frustration. "Hey, don't worry. I know. I know you love her. And if you ask me, I think she has a soft spot for you too. Love conquers all, right?" Zara says looking up at me and smiles.

Laylah

Bhai asks us to sit down. I'm too shocked to say anything, I don't know how to react. Why would Zaviyar do something like that without asking me? Does he really feel like that? So many questions swarming my mind. "Zaviyar, Laylah, what is happening, is there something going on between you guys that I should know of?" My brother asks sitting beside me and asks in a concerned tone. "No Bhai, I'm as surprised as you are." I say, my voice barely a whisper.

"Zavi, yaar, tell me, do you feel like that?" He turns to face Zaviyar, his voice laced with concern. "Yes, I didn't realise until I got here that I liked Laylah a lot." He says looking from me to Umer bhai. What! No, no please don't, I don't want to marry you, I think to myself. Amaan's face flashes in my mind and I smile. Wait, why did I think of Amaan just now. Ya Allah, I am so confused right now.
