Promise

-3 days later-

"Nayeon?" Jeongyeon step into Nayeon's apartment. When Jeongyeon dropped Nayeon off to the girl's apartment from the hospital, Nayeon insisted the blonde to go home. Nayeon knew Jeongyeon too need the rest as much as she does. Although the thought of having Jeongyeon with her in her apartment might be tempting, deep down her inner self managed to put aside the urge to have her girlfriend there, so she decided to ask Jeongyeon to prioritize herself. 'You must be exhausted. Go home babe. I'm okay. You can come back tomorrow. Don't worry about me okay? I'll be fine. Go take care of yourself first. Just promise you'll visit?" Nayeon cupped her girlfriend's cheek and smile softly. "I'll drop by tomorrow. Are you sure you're going to be just fine? Should you call your cousin to keep you company? You're still injured, baby." Jeongyeon plead. Nayeon then pinched the taller girl's nose bridge. "Stop worrying so much. I'll call Sana if I needed a hand. Here, take this. My house spare key. Keep it. So next time you come, just use it okay?" Jeongyeon stared into Nayeon's pair of eyes and peck her lips afterwards. "Take care baby. I'll be back right before you know it. I'll go now. Bye." Jeongyeon left Nayeon's apartment and headed home. The apartment looks the same when she left her girlfriend three days ago. The blanket still sprawled out on the sofa. The empty glass still placed on the same spot. Jeongyeon then collected the blanket and walk towards Nayeon's room. "Nayeon?" Jeongyeon called again. Jeongyeon walked towards Nayeon's room and knocked on the bedroom door. "Baby? Are you inside?" No response. Jeongyeon waited for a few more second and decided to go in without waiting any longer. She pulled the doorknob and pushed the door slowly. Nayeon was in her bed, with her back facing Jeongyeon, and the thick blanket covering half her body. Jeongyeon approached the girl and climb onto the bed. "Nayeon? Hey.." Jeongyeon carefully caress the girl's hair but Nayeon was not responding and Jeongyeon realized that Nayeon was sweating heavily. Jeongyeon placed the back of her hand on Nayeon's forehead. "Oh my god you're burning. Nayeon? Baby wake up." Jeongyeon patted Nayeon's face and removed the blanket. Jeongyeon cupped Nayeon's face and wipe the sweat while continuing patting the girl's cheek. Nayeon's face was dead pale. It looks like her blood was drained from from her face. Jeongyeon started to get panic when Nayeon's slender body was still rigid but then Nayeon suddenly opened her eyes. "H..hey. You..you're he..re." Jeongyeon immediately lifted Nayeon up from the bed in bridal style and rushed towards the front door. "Hang on baby. Just hang on a little bit more." Nayeon's vision was clouded. She knew Jeongyeon was carrying her out from her house but her eyes were too heavy to stay open and her mind was no way can function properly at that time so she just let the numbness took over her whole body. Nayeon faints in the arms of her girlfriend instantly. Jeongyeon on the other hand, still keeping herself focus on getting her girlfriend to the hospital. She thanked the heavens that the hospital was only a few minutes drive from Nayeon's apartment. Jeongyeon jumped out of her car with Nayeon in her arms, barging towards the emergency entrance. "Somebody help!" A group couple of nurses and a doctor rushed on her side. "She's burning up. She was conscious a few minutes earlier. Please do something!" Jeongyeon stated worriedly. "Nurse take her to the intensive care unit now. Miss Yoo. Wait here. Let us take over." Jeongyeon insisted to go alongside Nayeon but the nurses won't allow her. Knowing how's hospital procedure would be, she hopelessly obeyed.

Jeongyeon waited for half an hour, not moving an inch from her seat when suddenly the emergency door slightly opened revealing the doctor. Jeongyeon stand up immediately and walked towards the doctor. "Ms. Yoo." The doctor greeted. "How is she Irene? Please tell me she's okay." Jeongyeon flashed her concern. "Jeongyeon calm down. She's stable right now. She had a high fever because of severe dehydration. She seems so worn out. I need to examine her further. But she's okay for now. You can go in but let her rest okay?" Irene assured. Irene was one of  Jeongyeon's college friend. Long story short, Irene continues her studies abroad and come back a few years later, reporting on duty at the hospital she currently working at which happened to be the Yoos as one of the board members. The blonde met the doctor during the hospital opening ceremony and the two were casually keeping in touch with each other. "I owe you one Bae. I'll see you in a bit." Irene smile warmly. "No problem Yoo. I'll head to my office now." Jeongyeon walked into the emergency room. She almost broke down seeing Nayeon in the same state again. Only that this time Nayeon wasn't in coma but asleep. Still, Jeongyeon hated the view. She took a step slowly towards her girlfriend's bed and sat beside her. Jeongyeon cupped Nayeon's hand and kiss it tenderly. "I should've stayed with you that night but instead I didn't. Now look at you, here again because I wasn't there." Jeongyeon still holding on Nayeon's hand, neatly placing it on her lips. The blonde can't hold back her tears. "Don't cry.. I'm o..okay. Just a li..little tired." Nayeon speak up but her eyes still very much shut. Jeongyeon didn't seems shocked looking at her girlfriend suddenly announcing her consciousness, so she just smile. "Hey. Don't put too much effort to talk. Let me have this moment. Just sleep." Jeongyeon joked. Nayeon cracked a weak smile and forced her eyes open. "Baby, rest. Don't force yourself. I'm not going anywhere. I'll be here when you wake up. I promise. Sleep now." Jeongyeon tightens her grip and assured the other girl. Nayeon just nodded and replied a soft 'Okay' and drifted back to sleep not long after.
