I watched as the male, the Shadowsinger, looked around. He can sense my power. But he still can't pinpoint a location. I smirked as I backed into the forest.

I commanded my shadows to make the shape and take the form of Illyrian wings, and flapped them twice for good measure.

My shadows cloaked me as I followed them a good distance behind. I regularly followed the Shadowsinger, not that he'd know. I was about to head back anyways when I got the "announcement".

Queen. Come, or your legion is slaughtered. Come, or I shall kill the innocents. I shall start with the children if you are not back in an hour.

My eyes widened as I shook my head. The voice sounded familiar. I hadn't heard that voice since I had stabbed it in the heart. But realized that there was no heart.

The King of Hybern was a horrible male. Everything about him was just... wrong.

His magic was unnatural and violating. Not to mention strange as hell. But my hatred for him goes deeper. Much, much deeper.

He had killed my friends, and tortured me for decades. I was locked up in his palace and was to do as he said, or he would kill my child. I did what he said, but he still killed him. He also killed my first daughter and had her tortured.  Amongst my other adopted children, most of which died because of him. But none suffered as much as she did.

That was the other reason why I couldn't introduce myself to the Shadowsinger. I was the reason why our child was dead.

I quickly turned as I flew in the other direction, to my family, to my friends, and to my people. I was their protector, and I'd rather die than fail them. I'd failed so many, and I'd be damned if I failed again.
