Alex's POV
A few minutes after Ash slipped into his meditative night state, I got up off of the bed. Everyone was horribly wrong if they actually expected me not to follow my own father. I silently got dressed, packed a little bag of necessities, and blew Ash a little kiss before climbing out of our bedroom window.
Soon, I managed to catch my father's scent on the grass, and I followed the trail all the way into Newfolk. In the town, Papa's woody aroma mixed with another one that I didn't know very well. Just when I was about to continue along my journey, arms wrapped firmly around my waist. "I knew you were going to leave anyways, Alex. I know you too well," Ash whispered into my ear. "It's much too dangerous for you to be wandering all alone out here."
"I can't just leave him alone to the world. He's my dad, Ash!"
"I know... That's why we're going to get him together."
I sighed in defeat before joining my hand with Ash's, and we set off into the unknown wilderness together.

"Ash, the trail ends abruptly here," I declared. The sun had risen probably a few hours ago, and we had been following my father's scent for over a day. "Wait... It smells like wolves. Lots of them," I stammered.
"That is right, boy," a creepy man announced from a few meters away. I backed up into Ash with fear coursing through my veins, and I could tell from how tightly he was holding me that he was afraid too. Not for himself, but for me and our child. "Now what are two vampires doing on our land?"
"I came to get my father back," I snarled lowly.
"I don't think we've taken in any vampires recently that aren't... Well... You know... But hey! We're about to have two more!" I was swiftly pulled behind Ash's body, and I felt his muscles bunch up into a fighting stance. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. Our alpha has no patience for scum like you that choose to fight. I would say that your best chance of survival would be to come quietly."
Suddenly, a large group of warriors surrounded us into a tight circle, and I could sense that Ash was weighing our options. I allowed my fingers to bunch up in the back of his shirt, but soon I was torn away from his body into the grasp of the enemies.
A claw was placed against my neck while Ash was whipping around, and I couldn't hold in the fearful whimper that emitted itself from my throat. "You have two options: Come with us willingly or the boy dies."
I was forced to watch when his head dipped slightly as a sign of submission, but I wasn't released immediately. Instead, the leader bound Ash's hands firmly behind his back before having the man holding me do the same. We were lead at gunpoint into a grand looking pack house that strongly reminded me of our own, yet I had no time to dwell before we were being bundled through a maze of hallways.
"Alpha," one of the men barked once we were in front of a strong looking wolf. I looked around the old fashioned room with curious eyes, but it was pretty uneventful. It was kind of sketching me out that it was a spitting image of my office back home. "We found these two vampires lingering along the border. This one–" I was shoved roughly forward by the guard– "is convinced that we have his father." Something pushed against the undersides of my knees, and I found myself kneeling before another alpha. When I tried to surge up again, I was just pushed back onto the floor until my face was inches from the ground.
Suddenly, I felt a little bit of my power swirling at the bottom of my stomach that I hadn't felt for months. It was the kind of feeling like I was in danger, but I didn't know what from yet. While footsteps were approaching me, I could feel the burning of the metal handcuffs attached to my wrists, and I knew that my eyes were probably electric blue by now. My hair was fisted by an angry alpha, and I found myself looking up into eyes much too familiar. They were my father's eyes, but at the same time slightly different. Now, I'm no genius on my father's side of the family since he refuses to talk about it, but this man is totally related to my papa.
"Hey! What's wrong with this one's eyes?" the Alpha shouted just before my power exploaded out of my body. Everyone in the room except for Ash flew into the walls from the intensity of the blast, but at least my hands were free to do as they desired. "Call in backup! We need to take the magic one down!"
Feet stomped outside of the door to the office, and soon I was faced with most of the pack's fighting force. My feet automatically moved back a little bit, and I found myself with my hands raised facing a freaking army. My body hit into Ash's, and suddenly there was a huge red colored shield around out position. I tried shooting out of the sphere, but my power had only come back for a few moments before whisping away.
"Ash it isn't working!" I screamed over the whooshing of his power.
"Well I can't hold this forever!"
I tried calling the power up from my body again, but all I received was a hand kick from my child that sent me tumbling to my knees. I could see people on the outside attempting to run through the barrier but being struck down.
"Alex, baby, I'm sorry. My magic is failing," Ash breathed. I pulled him tightly against my body just as the barrier began to flicker out.
"Try to stay awake," I commanded, yet before I could get the last word out, Ash's body collapsed against mine. I tried shaking his shoulders, but his body was too exhausted from holding up his barrier too long. This time, I felt more rubbery handcuffs enclose my skin, and I had something injected into my neck that made it so I couldn't move.
The alpha appeared in front of me, and while he was observing me, his hand ran over my stomach. "Oh I see what this is," he jeered. "I've never seen a man carry a child before. Don't worry, we'll take good care of you in the pack's basement. Take them downstairs with the other intruders, but be slightly gentle with this one. I would hate to see him loose his baby before it could see the world."
I was dragged into the basement through filth until being thrown into a tiny cell. I just managed to drag my body onto Ash's before my eyes began to close on their own accord. No! It's my fault that Ash passed out, so now it's my job to protect him! I'll keep him safe, just watch me!
