The purple-haired girl swayed from left to right, until she lost her balance and was about to fall backwards. Everyone watched her, wide-eyed except for the man with golden eyes.

"Ayame!"

Subaru, Ayato and Laito were about to catch her but for some reason, they couldn't move their body. As if someone glued their feet to the ground.

Before Ayame's body made contact with the floor, Karlheinz teleported beside her, casually catching her back with an extended arm.

He wrapped his arms around her shoulders, while his other went behind her knees and hoisted her up, effortlessly carrying the unconscious girl.

His face showed no emotion as he stared at the girl sleeping on his arms, and yet he felt as if his whole being was in turmoil once again.

He let out a bitter chuckle. How is this even possible? What spell did this woman cast on him?

They've only just reunited and he is already starting to waver. He's finally about to reach his dream, yet this woman, this... obstacle is making him forget everything. He was certain that he had forgotten and corrected his mistakes before. He had failed once.

Will he allow himself to fail again?

"Father," Reiji spoke in a stern yet nervous tone and Karlheinz merely glared at him in his peripheral vision.

As he had thought, he can't trust his own sons when it comes to this obstacle. When he could barely resist it himself.

His glare shifted on the trembling girl sitting on the floor. How unrefined.

His eyes glowed red and Yui's eyes widened before she lost her consciousness, collapsing on the floor.

"Bring her to her room," he commanded, and their old butler appeared out of nowhere. He easily carried Yui, disappearing with her in the darkness.

Karlheinz then turned to his children, "Nothing will change." His voice was colder than before, now that he has no more reason to show restraint. "I shall punish anyone who plans to intervene with my plan." He narrowed his eyes even more, glaring at all of his sons. His face showed no mercy.

They glared at him in return but will steal glances on the woman on their father's arms. Is he not going to let her go?

"What do you plan to do with her, father?" Reiji asked, pertaining to Ayame.

"I shall hide her from Eve, of course," he insensibly answered, "as the Awakening is nearing."

The Sakamaki brothers felt anxiety rising inside them. Shu sprung up from his seat, his eyes widened in fear, Ayato and Laito are frozen in their spot, Subaru was gritting his teeth, Kanato was already crying as he tightened the hold on Teddy's arm, while Reiji was just standing there, his face showing no expression.
