The little birds were chirping in the early morning as the sun rose high up in the sky, turning the blue color of skies in the hues of pink, orange and magenta. The sounds of the clashes of the swords echoed on the rooftop of the royal palace of Vijaygarh. The cool breeze blowing in the air tranquilized the sweating body of the royal queen, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore.
"Your highness, the royal queen of Vijaygarh is lacking energy, Maharani", her royal guard Siddharth Pratap Singh said to Aparajita as she gulped the glass of water. Aparajita smiled looking at her mentor Siddharth Pratap Singh as she remembered his father, the man who taught to handle the sharp sword efficiently, Abhay Pratap Singh. After the retirement of the old man, his youngest son Siddharth was indeed the best person to rely upon for the effective practice and rigorous exercise.
"Uncle, why not have a sword bet again?", Aparajita said in a child-like voice reminiscing her childhood days as she tapped her feat fiercely on the ground.
"A bet, why?", Siddharth asked squinting his eyes as he smiled looking at the innocent seventeen year old who had the responsibility of the whole kingdom of Vijaygarh on her tender shoulders.
"My father gave you a job, I guess and I want the details", Aparajita said picking up her sword and positioning herself for attacking her mentor. Clutching the sharp-edged blade of steel along the level of her nose, Aparajita looked fiercely in the eyes of her opponent just like her mentor Abhay Pratap Singh had taught her.
"His highness did not assign me any job", Siddharth said panting hard as he defended the attack from the queen and her student, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore as he pushed Aparajita leading to the clashing of their swords. Swinging his shiny steel blade of the sword forward followed by a backward swing, Siddharth attacked on the left shoulder of Aparajita as his dark black eyes met her fiery chocolate-brown ones.
"Don't lie, my dear uncle", Aparajita said playfully as her sharp sword met his. Pushing her mentor down, she smirked as her uncle staggered and stumbled barely managing to stay on his feet.
Regaining his balance, the middle-aged man took a deep breath regularizing his uneven breath. "Okay, if you win this bet I will answer one of your questions truthfully", Siddharth said as he squared his body and flashed his sword arc towards the right arm of the left-handed Aparajita.
"I will make sure that I will extract all the information from you in a question only", Aparajita said as she swung her sword in the direction of the strong torso of her mentor.
Protecting himself with his shield, middle-aged Siddharth smirked looking at the intelligent queen who attacked him again fiercely. Trying to push her down on the ground, Siddharth swung his blade forward assuming to win the bet and preserve his loyalty towards the old king, Maharaja Vijay Singh Rathore.
Bending downwards, the determined Aparajita smirked as she pushed her mentor down on the ground pointing the pointed blade of her sword just an inch above the dark eyes of the royal guard, Siddharth Pratap Singh.
Clashing her sword with that of her mentor, Aparajita made sure that her mentor left his sword beside him as he laid down on the ground accepting the defeat from his valiant disciple happily. He was indeed proud of the seventeen year old valiant queen of Vijaygarh, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore who had saved the pride of their kingdom when it was needed the most without giving a thought about herself even at once.
Straightening her long off-white tunic, Aparajita stood up and gave her sword to one of the servants. Siddharth, on the other hand, stood up, picking his sword and keeping it back on the holster. Determined to get information about her cousin Vikrant and her cunning uncle, Ajeet Singh Rathore, Aparajita looked towards her mentor Siddharth Pratap Singh and said, "So, dear uncle what are you hiding?", as she folded her arms across her chest.
Siddharth sighed looking the unwavering spirit of the queen of Vijaygarh, the revered Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore and gestured towards the presence of servants and royal guards. Aparajita was suspicious when her father eventually abided by her decision of banishing her guileful uncle and his treacherous family. She knew that her father trusted Siddharth Pratap Singh the most and hence, she knew that her Siddharth uncle would definite quest her curiosity about her sly cousin Vikrant Singh Rathore.
Commanding everyone to leave, Aparajita turned towards Siddharth who looked at her helplessly. He realized that he had promised to answer a question truthfully and Aparajita's four word question, 'what are you hiding', indeed, demanded information about the whole incident as she had promised.
Chuckling as he admired the intelligence of his disciple, the seventeen year old queen of Vijaygarh, the royal guard and her mentor, Siddharth Pratap Singh said, "Your highness, Maharaja Vijay Singh Rathore called me and asked to find out the living conditions of your uncle, Ajeet Singh Rathore and his family. He also asked me hand over some royal jewels to them and make sure they have an awesome life ahead."
Trying to grasp his words, Aparajita let out a small chuckle as she assessed the irony of the situation. Her father's lack of trust on her definitely scarred her heart but she knew very well to hide her emotions. Signaling Siddharth to continue, Aparajita took a deep breath.
Closing his eyes and controlling his emotions, Siddharth Pratap Singh narrated the conversation with Aparajita's cousin, the royal Vikrant Singh Rathore and revealed the headman of the tribal village of Pranathgarh, Avinash Singh Shekhawat had offered dwelling and support to her uncle and his family. Siddharth Pratap Singh revealed that he expected the old village headman to help his longtime friend, Ajeet Singh Rathore especially during the time of need so that the village headman could boast his relations with the royals of Vijaygarh in his tribal community, after all, the daughter of Avinash Singh Shekhawat is growing up and he, being a responsible father wanted a good alliance for her daughter from his community.
Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore realized the need to keep an eye on the village of Pranathgarh since her guileful uncle and his venomous family were there. She pitied on the poor village which might have to face the wrath of Vijaygarh in future because she knew her venomous cousin would definitely be up to something really dangerous after all, he was hurt after banishment. No doubts, Aparajita knew her uncle Ajeet Singh Rathore and her cousin Vikrant is a danger and she definitely wanted to make sure that those cunning people are punished in the dungeons of Vijaygarh however, she knew they could have easily manipulated her father while staying in Vijaygarh hence, she had to banish them.
Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore smirked with authority fitting into the aura of the royal queen of Vijaygarh as she ordered the man standing in front of her to keep an eye on the activities of Vikrant Singh Rathore and dismissed him. She sighed to be blessed to have loyal people like Siddharth Pratap Singh in the royal kingdom of Vijaygarh.
Wishing for the safety and welfare of her prosperous kingdom, Aparajita chuckled at her ironical situation. She was definitely displeased at her father who trusted his brother more than anything.
Taking a deep breath and calming down her anger towards her father who was blinded with selfless love towards his brother, Aparajita went towards her royal chambers to take a relaxing bath and begin another hectic day at the royal court of Vijaygarh.
