The sound of slap resonated in his ears as his blood boiled in anger. Aparajita’s innocent face kept on flashing in front of the eyes of the prince of Shivgarh, Yuvraj Veerbhadra Singh Rajput who seemed to be driven towards the intriguing eyes of the queen of Vijaygarh.
Mentally chiding himself, Veerbhadra got up from his luxurious bed and let out an exasperated sigh as he slapped himself powerfully again and again till his cheeks went numb. A stinging sensation crept on his face as he remembered the incidents of the previous night when his father, Maharaja Jai Singh Rajput had slapped him angrily.
Veerbhadra Singh Rajput, the powerful prince who was never treated with disrespect was indeed, insulted today by his own father in front of his friend. The arrogant Rajput could not bear the insult.
Veerbhadra had confined himself in his royal bed chambers in rage after the confrontation with his father and he had also not eaten his dinner.
Getting up from his bed, muscular Veerbhadra came out of his bed chambers in the balcony. The cool breeze was blowing in the pitch dark sky which was illuminated with shimmering stars and a bright moon. The night was indeed, peaceful and serene but the tranquil breeze was not enough to calm down the rage inside the prince.
Looking at the moon, Veerbhadra flinched as he remembered the gorgeous queen of Vijaygarh, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore.
A smile crept on his pink lips as the image of Aparajita clad in the royal pink attire flashed in his mind.
“Beautiful”, mumbled Veerbhadra in a husky voice as he felt sensual sensations developing in his body while his mind travelled to their first encounter in the forest.
Veerbhadra’s anger subsided as he was lost in his own world of carnal desires standing in the balcony of his royal palace when a gust of wind brought him back to reality.
Leaning on the railings of his terrace, Veerbhadra shrieked as he remembered his conversation with his father who had looked at him with disgust for the first time. Veerbhadra was dealing with his own turmoil as voice of his friend rang into his ears, “Your highness! You are the future king of Shivgarh so think like a king”.
His empty stomach growled as he questioned himself if he was actually doing wrong by playing with the innocent queen of Vijaygarh. He introspected the values taught by his family and he realized a Kshatriya was indeed expected to play fair but when he remembered the mutilated dead body of his doting grandfather, Maharaja Mahendra Singh Rajput, which was slashed into two halves; anger rose up inside him.
Strengthening his resolve to take revenge from the cunning queen of Vijaygarh who was masking her reality with innocent face, Veerbhadra Singh Rajput told himself, “Veerbhadra, you have to take revenge. Aparajita Singh Rathore killed your grandfather, she is not all innocent. She is just your enemy.”
Veerbhadra kept on chanting the same statement continuously like a mantra as he reaffirmed the idea of revenge in his mind. No doubts, queen had a pure heart but her deeds were indeed, filthy and impure; Veerbhadra thought convincing himself to go against his father and continuing his plan to crumble the pride of the arrogant queen, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore.
The trance of his thoughts were broken when his pet Dharmadoot cooed and sat on his left shoulder fluttering its wings. Veerbhadra Singh Rajput looked at the trained pigeon with adoration as he excitedly took the letter and smiled realizing his plan was deemed to be successful. Veerbhadra was indeed, enthusiastic to read the contents of the letter.
The twenty five year old prince of Shivgarh, Yuvraj Veerbhadra Singh Rajput rushed inside his chambers and sat on his study table enthusiastically to read the letter. Veerbhadra chuckled as he realized he was indeed behaving like an adolescent boy. His heart was thumping loudly almost ready to rip out of his muscular body, as he adjusted the dim light of the lamp while Dharmadoot followed him in his chambers, fluttering its wings and sat in front of its matter looking at him keenly.
Opening the letter and reading its content written in red ink, Veerbhadra frowned. His hazel green eyes squinted as he scrunched his forehead looking angrily at the words, 'Yuvraj Veerbhadra Singh Rajput'.
“Had she not agreed to call me Veer?”, Veerbhadra mumbled as he chuckled at the attitude of his dynamic goldfish who knew how to play with words.
Reading the words, 'Eat well and stay strong to fulfill your responsibilities as a prince and future king of your kingdom', Veerbhadra smiled as his heart swelled with unknown emotion and he realized his innocent goldfish was indeed giving him a prudent voice.
“She cares for me and my well-being”, Veerbhadra mumbled as a wide smile crept on his lips.
He felt a pang of jealousy in his heart as he glanced at the signature of the queen at the end of the letter which had her name with the royal designation.
“I would love to snatch your status, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore”, Veerbhadra screamed angrily startling Dharmadoot. The poor bird was visibly afraid at the terrible behavior of its master.
Angrily, Veerbhadra took his quill and penned down another letter in black ink.
Dear Aparajita
I am just Veer for you. I will appreciate if you would call me Veer like you did it on the day we met.
Thank you for caring for me. I met the royal physician and he said, “Your Highness! You should meet the one because of whom you have lost your appetite and sleep”.
Aparajita, you have stolen the peace of mind, my appetite, my sleep and my heart too. I am helpless now. I request the generous queen of Vijaygarh to help me get well soon after all she wants me to be fit to fulfill my duties towards my kingdom.
So Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore, can a humble prince have the honor of meeting you, seeing you and talking to you once more?
Please don’t deny the wish of your admirer, the gorgeous queen.
You are indeed, a true celestial beauty, Your Highness!
With love,
Yours VeerVeerbhadra read his letter several times and sighed victoriously realizing he had indeed, written an immaculate answer. Folding the letter, he kissed on it and prayed the Almighty, “Lord Shiva, please make sure my goldfish meets me”.
Smiling triumphantly, Veerbhadra tied the letter on the neck of the trained pigeon, Dharmadoot and flew it in the sky with high hopes in his expectant hazel green eyes, after all, he desired a positive response from the royal queen of Vijaygarh, Aparajita Singh Rathore.
