The prince of Shivgarh, Yuvraj Veerbhadra Singh Rajput was treated well in the humble house of Siddharth Pratap Singh. The royal physician had treated his wounds and given him medicines. The lady of the house had cooked scrumptious meals for him. The children of the house were running all around giggling and laughing. Though the kids did not mingle with him yet he admired the satisfied little family of Vijaygarh. He loved their hospitality towards him and loyalty towards the queen.
After a short nap in the afternoon, he was observing everything sitting in the room provided to him, when there was a knock on the wooden door.
He opened the door only to find the eldest son of the house who said, "Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore is here to meet you".
He sighed as he nodded. Smirking, he glanced himself in the mirror to make sure his charms were enticing enough to lure his goldfish.
Sitting on the couch, he waited for the royal queen of Vijaygarh to meet him. Within few seconds, the glorious queen of Vijaygarh, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore entered the room.
Dressed in a bright yellow colored skirt embellished with the opulent jewels and a matching blouse, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore was looking like a celestial goddess. Her milky white skin was glowing and her ebony black hair were neatly tied into a bun covered with a yellow colored silk veil. Her long slender neck was highlighted with the ornaments of pure gold. Veerbhadra admired the beautiful queen in a regal attire standing in full glory in front of him. He looked downwards and found himself underdressed for the occasion of meeting the queen.
Veerbhadra was busy appreciating the enticing beauty of the queen, her chocolate brown eyes, her button-like nose and her lovely lips, when, Aparajita cleared her throat gaining attention.
"Your Highness! I am Yuvraj Veerbhadra Singh Rajput, the crowned Prince of Shivgarh", folding both of his hands in front of her as a gesture of paying his regards, Veerbhadra introduced himself to the queen.
Aparajita reciprocated the same action as she said, "And I am Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore, the queen of Vijaygarh", with full authority in her tone and sense of responsibility in her eyes.
"You are quite popular, queen", Veerbhadra said admiring her authoritative aura.
Aparajita nodded staring at the golden earrings suspiciously as she wondered why the dacoits did not take the valuable earrings from the prince. She neglected the fact that the prince would have protected himself because she had seen his limping body on the ground and he had not taken any effort to fight the dacoits afterwards despite she was there to help him, and protect him.
"Hopefully you are fine now", Aparajita said as she sat on the upholstered mahogany chair lying in the room authoritatively.
"Thank you for saving my life", Veerbhadra said smiling at her.
Aparajita smirked as she said, "And I am glad to save your golden earrings too", catching Veerbhadra off guard.
Veerbhadra was confused for once. He regretted not removing the golden earrings while he staged everything. Those golden earrings were the last memory of his dead grandfather, Maharaja Mahendra Singh Rajput, who was killed by the queen of Vijaygarh sitting in front of him. He sighed. "These are valuable to me. When I was to fight with them, they asked me to choose, my life or these. These are not just earrings, these are the last memory of my valiant grandfather who is not anymore. I cannot part with them".
Veerbhadra took a deep breath realizing he gave a satisfactory answer. Though those earrings were valuable for him but he could not treasure them more than his life ever.
Aparajita did not buy his words but she did not probe further, for two reasons, first it was not her place to say anything and second, she remembered she killed the old king of Shivgarh, Maharaja Mahendra Singh Rajput, the grandfather of the prince sitting in front of her on the bed. With no intention to aggravate the long-forgotten painful memories, the queen chose to keep quiet.
Calling the eldest son of Siddharth Pratap Singh, she gestured him to bring the presents. He came with the big golden plate covered with the red silk cloth. Veerbhadra received the royal gifts at once, admiring the hospitality of the queen of Vijaygarh.
Veerbhadra wondered everyone in Shivgarh considered the queen of Vijaygarh as the biggest culprit of their kingdom while here, the innocent queen, oblivious to everything was selflessly fulfilling the duties of a Kshatriya.
He wondered why the impeccable girl sitting in front of him killed his grandfather at the first place, otherwise, she was perfect to be his wife.
His inner conscience reprimanded at him for the ridiculous thoughts of getting married to the girl who was a cold-blooded murderer and from whom he had to take revenge after all, he had promised to make her life hell.
"Why did you save me?", Veerbhadra questioned her as his conscience was asking the same question from him since last night. He was wondering was he not a rival to her. His mind was constantly coming up with a question, if he were in her place, had he saved her.
Aparajita sighed as she said, "I am a Kshatriya and it is my duty to protect the one who ends up taking shelter in my territory". Taking a deep breath, she said, "You belong to the neighboring kingdom and as per the peace treaty, we need to stay in harmony".
Having said this, the queen of Vijaygarh, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore got up to leave.
"Are we not rivals?", Veerbhadra murmured with his mind divided into two sides, one side which admired the majestic queen of Vijaygarh, while the other side pestered on the idea of revenge with the cold blooded murderer who loved to kill people.
"If we are rivals, you should be punished for trespassing my territory", Aparajita said with a smirk plastered on her face. Her body language radiated a dominant aura which intimidated Veerbhadra.
Choosing his words wisely, Veerbhadra said, "Those dacoits were plundering my territory so I doubted that perhaps, it is the plan of the new queen to disrupt the law and order in Shivgarh". Having said these words, Veerbhadra mentally did a happy dance as he expected, it was his turn to smirk.
Aparajita, on the other hand, was amused at the strange talks of the prince. Her laugh echoed in the silent room. "Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore believes in fair games, prince. The royals of Rathore clan do not indulge into sly games".
For once, Veerbhadra's face paled. He regretted stooping too low to make disgusted plans but the dead body of his late grandfather kept on flashing in front of his eyes.
Veerbhadra sighed as he chose to explain himself. Trying to look into the intimidating eyes of the queen, he said, "I trespassed your territory because I had to protect my......"
Before he could speak further, Aparajita gestured him to stop and he cursed himself for involuntarily discontinuing his speech. The enticing eyes of Aparajita were surely casting a magical spell on him.
"We are Kshatriyas. We are rivals only in the battlefield. We have a peace treaty otherwise. I believe in abiding by it for the goodwill of both the neighbouring kingdoms, Vijaygarh and Shivgarh." Having said these words the righteous queen of Vijaygarh, Maharani Aparajita Singh Rathore left the room leaving Veerbhadra bewildered.
For once, the guileful prince of Shivgarh, Yuvraj Veerbhadra Singh Rajput felt really small in front of the queen of Vijaygarh. He knew he had promised the revenge and had to be more careful to fulfill his goals but he certainly admired the aura of the beautiful queen who not only possessed a beautiful face but an intelligent brain too.
