MIN Y.
I almost shit my pants when I heard the voice so close in my ear.
But the only physical reaction I had was elbowing the person right in the gut, and whipping around to face them.
Even with his face shrouded in shadows, I recognized the demigod.
I glared angrily. "So you're the one who burns up the vegetation as if it didn't take almost a thousand years to grow back after the fallout, Hoseok."
He cocked his head to the side when I began communicating, then smiled.
"Huh intriguing. I've never met someone with telepathy. And say, I've never seen you around. So how do you know my name?" His tone was friendly on the surface, but the crinkle at the corners of his eyes and the slight crookedness of his grin gave him a certain sinister quality.
I wanted to smack this little shit upside the head for talking to me the way he was.
"General Kim has called for you and two others. I'm here to collect you."
"I don't see any others, although I do see two horses. So your friend has to be hiding around here."
I tensed slightly, worried that he might find Tae and do something unpredictable.
Pyre took a step closer to me. "I'd say you're setting me up. Stole a couple of uniforms to trick me and take me somewhere to kill me. I don't buy it."
If I didn't have quick reflexes, my face would've burned off from the fireball the demi sent my way.
I glanced behind to make sure the stallions were okay; thankfully, the blast missed by a long shot.
I felt slight vibrations behind me in Taehyung's direction.
"Stay down! He thinks we're a threat! Let me deal with him. Please," I practically begged my best friend. He ceased his movements and remained in hiding.
The second I turned my attention back to Pyre, I was met with a very hot fist to my eye.
"Fu-hhkk!" I screamed as I kicked the back of his leg, making him fall far down enough that I grabbed his head and smashed my knee into it.
The second he fell to the ground, I wasted no time grabbing his arms and locking them behind him. I crouched down and put one foot and arm on the back of his and used as much force to hold him down. I took my free hand and held it up to my eye.
"Kim, get over here now with the anti fire ropes! Hurry!"
I felt Tae's rushed, heavy footsteps through the ground as he hustled over.
Out of my good eye I could see him running over with the ropes. Once he was close enough I saw his expression. To anyone else he looked pissed off, but to me, he looked absolutely distressed.
He dropped beside me where my good eye could see him clear.
"You're hurt."
"I'll deal with that in a second, tie him up first. He needs to be restrained and have time to chill out."
"Yes sir."
While Tae began on his Swiss knots, I jogged over to my stallion still covering my eye. I rifled through my bag, grabbing a wad of gauze and pressing it to my injured eye. As I did so, I ripped off a couple long strips of bandaging tape to secure it, wincing as I felt my burnt skin stretching with every blink.
I quickly made my way back over bringing the stallions with me. I wanted to hurry and get a move on because the sun was almost fully set.
The deadliest creatures come out at night.
