Vlad's POV
I hung by magical chains that cut off my bond to my mate and to Z. My shirt had been ripped from me, and the secret I had kept hidden for millions of years was exposed. Those who have taken over my estate must have found their way into my vault, finding what I was unable to bring with me. The moment I saw the Lord's son, I knew Sillias was wanting to find out how I became truly immortal without aging. His whole life he has been searching for a way to make himself immortal. I burned all knowledge of it many centuries ago. At the time I was being selfish, wanting to be the only immortal vampire. I then became grateful I had done it when the world became more corrupt.
Who knows what would have happened had many who sought the answer, became like me. I couldn't dwell on that right now. I had to get out of here. I had a job to do, and a mate to get back too. I looked up at the chains holding me. They were well secured into the ceiling. The cuffs were magically locked, no hole to pick. I tried tugging and a jolt of electricity shocked the hell out of me. I gritted my teeth till it subsided.
When the door to my cell opened Sillias came in. He leaned on his cane as he walked. "How have you lived so long without aging," he asked me for the umpteenth time. I kept silent. "Tell me, why would the great Vladorian throw away his wealth for a pathetic human," He asked me. "You had power and money, and you threw it all away." "I didn't throw away my money, you bastards stole it," I told him. "And I dont know any pathetic humans. I know a beautiful human goddess who I loved bonding my truly immortal life too so she could live just as long as I do. Plus I'm not as immortal as you think. Without the community I would have died until I found another one to bind myself to."
"And which community are you apart of," he asked me. "Where was your community when we captured you?" "Protecting our Queen," I replied. "Not that she really needs protecting." He scoffed, "Not much of a queen if she needs protecting." I laughed coldly, "I never said she needed it."
Someone then rushed in. "A Mr.Z is here to see you sir," they told him in a rush. Suddenly Z was behind him, towering over him. Z looked at me, eyebrow raised. "Enjoying your stay Vlad," He asked me. I gripped the chains and swung my feet slamming them into Sillias who was staring at Z in fear. "Immensely. Now can you get me out of these chains," I asked him. He caught Sillias by the throat.
Z turned his eyes to Sillias. "Tell me Sillias, why is it you took what belongs to me," Z asked him coldly. "I want the secret to his immortality," Sillias told him. "Go ahead and tell him the downside of the immortality," Z told me. I smirked, "It's too late for you. If you were younger, then sure, but if you became immortal now, you would stay the old decrepit fuck you are. Becoming immortal doesn't reverse the aging process. Immortal simply means long life, doesn't mean your invincible." His eyes widened in horror at the reality of it all. Truth hurts, but it was best to rip it off like a band aid. The sooner you got past the sting, the easier it is to accept it.
Z then squeezed his hand around his neck, the strength easily snapping Sillias' neck like a pencil. He dropped his limp body and walked over to me. "You truly are an inconvenience," Z told me. I rolled my eyes, "It's not like I planned on getting captured. Had they not had a fucking witch with them, then I would've been able to continue on with my mission." "Forget about the mission for now," he told me as he used his own magic to get the chains to release me. "You are not in the right state." He was right. My body was covered in wounds from the torture they tried using on me to get me to talk. There were also burns on my wrists from when the chains shocked me.
He grabbed me and flashed us back to the house. Nia was then there, "What did they do to you?" She inspected my wounds. "Love, I'm fine," I tried to assure her. "Fine?! You were tortured Vlad," she snapped as her eyes filled with tears. "I just need to rest then I'll be fine." Alanna was leaning in the doorway of the living room, she gestured with her forehead, "I don't want to see you until you're fully healed." I gave her a nod and Nia was pulling on my hand, pulling me up the stairs.
Z's POV
"How did they capture him," Alanna asked me. "They had a witch working for them," I told her. "What did they want," she asked next. "His secret got out and they wanted the answer to his immortality," I told her. "With him being so old, how many secrets do you think he's got hiding in his estate that would be better keeping it a secret," she asked me. That was a question we needed the answer too. "We'll go find out," I told her. She nodded and kissed me before going up the stairs. I gathered the Founders I thought would be best for the job and we went to Vlad's estate.
It was more like a castle with vampires walking about. I could hear vampires inside, trashing the place as they looked through his mansion. I signaled and we moved out, quickly taking out the vampires walking about outside before making our way inside. We all split up, going separate ways, taking out any vampires we found. I found a staircase leading in to the floor on the hall on the ground level, completely lit. I made my way down the steps cautiously. A man was looking about the large room beneath it, that had paintings of warriors, their weapons beneath them. The mark of the Blood Crusaders had been painted on the floor. The man turned and looked at me, "Who are you?" "House keeping," I told him before quickly killing him.
I looked around the room. I then noticed he had been holding a notebook, writing down some things. I picked it up and saw that he had been writing down names. They were all variations of the names on the placards under the paintings. Vlad wasn't the only Blood Crusader who was still alive it seems. I sent the notebook home and left the room. I made the hole seal up, then made it so only Vlad and myself could enter it. I continued to make my way through the house, finding many secrets I thought had been lost to time that truly did not need to fall in the wrong hands. I sealed off the rooms and met with the others in the foyer. "We'll seal the place, turn it into one of our vaults. Ensure unwanted visitors can't get in," I told them. They nodded and we left, sealing the estate entirely.
I went back home and found Alanna asleep in our bed, wearing one of my shirts. She was very large, and due very soon. She learned the gender a month ago, but didn't share it with me, wanting me to be surprised. She told me to pick a name for a boy, and to pick a name for a girl, so that way we would have the name picked without giving it away. I had chosen Alonzo and Zephira. Now I just had to wait and see.
