Baby Zephira decided to arrive when Z was gone, tracking down the man who had been able to make a fake of the key. Zephira had wasted no time coming into the world, allowing me to have a quick delivery. Poor Z, he had to go shower the dirt and sweat he was covered in for some reason before he could be there for us. Once he was clean seeing him hold her was the most precious thing in the world. She was sleeping in his arms, a small hand wrapped around his finger. She had his hair. We would have to wait some time for her eyes to change from blue to their real color. I could tell when he first saw her that she instantly had him wrapped around her finger. Daddy's precious little princess. She has the deadliest family in the world filled with over protective beasts.
"How do you feel," Z asked after laying her in her bed. "Sore," I told him. "And tired." He kissed the top of my head and I leaned in to him. "Why were you so dirty," I asked him. "The hunt lead us to the damn rain forest. He knows we're on to him so he's running us through a damn loop," Z growled softly. He then cupped my cheek and I looked up at him, "Thank you Alanna." I knew what he was thanking me for. I gave him so much he never knew was possible. He did the same for me as well. "Thank you Zeviathan," I said in return. He then kissed me deeply before letting me get some rest.
All throughout the night, any time Zephira woke up, Z was up with her, letting me get as much sleep as possible since I was recovering. He was just so cute with her. Of course I refuse to tell him that.
Thank's to my rapid healing abilities it wasn't long till I was almost fully recovered. It was nice no longer being as big as a whale. When I woke up to the sun coming in through the curtains, I noticed Z wasn't in bed with me. It had become a common occurrence. Anytime I found him, he was with Zephira. The others have all had a chance to hold her and spend time with her, but it was like I rarely got to hold her unless I was feeding her.
I slipped from the bed and found Z in the nursery with her. He was sitting in the rocking chair with her, her tiny hand wrapped around his finger. "She has you wrapped around her tiny little finger," I said as he gave her to me and I pulled me into his lap. "You both do," he told me honestly. "Just like I have you wrapped around something much larger than my finger," He whispered into my ear. "I'm not fully healed for that yet," I told him. He chuckled, "I'm patient." I laughed softly, "You and the word patient don't fit in the same sentence." He kissed my cheek, "I guess you have a point."
He held us as I began to feed her. "Sometimes I can't believe she's really here," he whispered resting his chin on my shoulder. I smiled at her, "I know how you feel." We sat there in a peaceful silence as she ate. After I burped her I stood with her. We went downstairs for breakfast. It was such a different air than when I first arrived. The men were even wearing clothes at breakfast. It was a more welcoming atmosphere as well. During breakfast there was talking, laughing, and acceptance. It made me really happy.
After breakfast I was on the patio, the weather really nice. Zephira was sleeping in my arms as I rocked her. The peace felt so fake though. I felt that any second things are going to go to hell so quickly. I looked up when I heard the sound of walking. It was Axel and Talos on patrol. "Are you okay," Axel asked me. I nodded, "I'm fine." "You don't seem so," Talos stated to me. I sighed, "It's too peaceful. With everything going on, it seems too quiet." Axel nodded, "We're preparing for shit to hit the fan, but there is no telling when it will happen." "We should enjoy it while it lasts," Talos added in.
That was easier said than done. Their eyes went to Zephira and I noticed their gazes softened slightly. They then walked away. I smiled down at her, "You've surely changed these beasties." I laughed softly to myself at that. For her sake, I prayed the peace lasted.
Violet's POV
I sat on my laptop in the living room when Silver came in. We've been doing our best to be civil towards one another. "I have a request," he said to me. I looked up from the screen and raised an eyebrow at him, "And that is?" "That you go on a date with me," he told me. A what? I had never been on a date before. He was clearly trying to make us work, so I agreed. I looked back at my laptop, "What do I wear?" He was silent for a moment, as if he had been prepared for me to turn him down. "Something nice," he said in the same tone. "We will be leaving at seven." I nodded, "Okay."
He then left the living room. At five thirty I went up to my room. I showered then stood in the room wearing my towel. Most of what I had was goth, but I did have some things that weren't goth depending how I wore it. I pulled out a red strapless dress that went to my knees. I paired it with black lace peep toed shoes. I put on my strapless black bra and matching thong. I went into the bathroom and did my make up. I did my black winged eyeliner and some red eye shadow. I then looked at my sorry excuse for hair. I sighed and did an elegant updo. I went into the room and slipped on the clothes. I looked at my jewelry and slipped on a simple black necklace that didn't go far past my collar bone, and a pair of black matching earrings. I then took my pins that had fake black roses on the ends and slipped them into my hair to make it look even nicer. I grabbed my black clutch and left the room. Axel and Talos were in the hall. "Going out," Axel said a little suspiciously. "Yeah," I told them. "Silver is taking me out on a date." They both seemed shocked. After all, that didn't seem to be a very Silver thing to do.
I went down the stairs and found him waiting in a nice black suit. He had grey shirt under his suit jacket, and a simple black tie. His eyes trailed over me and I could see the lust filled approval in his eyes. He offer his arm and I took it. He took me out to his car, not wanting to use his magic to take us to where ever it is he has planned for us. The drive was in silence. It was slightly tense, but it was hard to tell if it was a nervous tension or a sexual tension. When we got to the restaurant, he opened the door for me, offering me a hand. I took it as I exited the car. As we walked he kept a hand on the small of my back. Once inside he pulled out my chair before sitting down himself.
"I was slightly surprised that you agreed to this without a fight," He told me. "I was surprised you even asked me out," I told him. "I thought it couldn't hurt to give it a chance." "I know we mated out of necessity, but we seem to be doing more harm than good by not actually trying to have a relationship and creating a bond of sorts," He explained to me. "I'm tired of always fighting. It seems that we only ever fight or have sex, and I know the others are growing tired of it. I have grown tired of it." I nodded, "I have too. It has made me grow to hate coming to you for things because I don't want to fight." I have literally only gone to him to feed.
"I want to try," He told me. I nodded after a moment, "Trying sounds good."
As the dinner progressed, I got to learn more about him and who he had been before he was turned into a Founder. After dinner and dessert, he took me to just walk and enjoy New Orleans. As we walked we held hands, our fingers laced together. It was actually really nice to enjoy the evening with him. For once I felt at peace with him. As we stood at a crosswalk to change I rested my head against his arm. He gave my hand a light squeeze that had me smiling softly. If things continue to be nice like this, then maybe having a relationship won't be so bad.
